We have just found a very nice app for the smartphones that can be used to help you keep in contact with your family and friends back in the UK. Viber is really good and it works via your phone to allow you to make calls and send texts. We have used it for a week or so now and have found it to be really good. Also like skype, it is free, so it cannot be too bad. It does need the person you are calling to have Viber, but once they have it, away you go. We have not found any cam facility yet (like skype) but as it goes through your phone it is easier for us. We do not work for Viber, but think it may be of use to others on here to help you contact people in the UK and keep the costs down. Alan Collett Posted November 11, 2012 Share Posted November 11, 2012 The good thing about Viber (apart from the fact that it uses your data allowance) is that it works from your Contacts. A very useful app for those in the UK who want to send a text message to Australia - a standard SMS to Australia will usually not be included in a UK mobile plan => additional cost for UK based people unless you use an app like Viber. FB Messenger, Skype, etc do the same thing, but I like Viber because of its interaction with my Contacts, not all of whom have FB accounts. Best regards.
