Hi There

Can anyone tell me if anywhere in perth make or sell real ale?

Hubby is a real ale fanatic and cannot bear the thought of living without a pint or 4 of the brown stuff.

Also if anyone knows of a company who would like to sponsor my hubby a control panel wireman (electrician special class) a long shot I know but if you dont ask you dont get!

Cheers

My hubby quite likes Coopers ale,(you can get it at tesco - if you want to try it) and we had quite a nice day testing beers at the mash brewery in the swan valley. We also found a shop that did some of the speciality beers.

Sorry can't help with the sponsorship

Hi addacakes, i am also into my bear as a sideline hobby of being 21 - and i don't mean the tins from the supermarket either, i frequently brewed my own bear and have a little hobby drinking the stuff.

Right then, over history you will find anywhere the british or irish have colonized you will find a good ale. tasmania, america etc and Australia is no exception!

Firstly as a slight observation you walk into any off license in the UK and you are confronted with fosters, stella artois, calrsberg, carling etc all common rubbish british pop.

I know in England especially the north you will find many local breweries serving brews but am guessing this is what your husband enjoys?

When you walk into a 'bottle shop' here (as general shops can't sell alcohol) you are confronted with every beer in the bloody world from british to tasmanian, of every kind, if you enjoy beer it's like a kid walking into willy wonkers palace.

So that sorts your 'drink at home' category - trust me on this, don't worry!!

As for your, out to a nice pub selections, they have many local breweries serving everything from wheat beer to dark ale. try googling 'matilda bay beer'

Now this is where your husbands eyes will start to glow, australia has a special kind of establishment called 'Brew it yourself' basicly you walk into these places, pick your hops, pick your favoured process, pick your bottles, pick your aditives - and you can make the beer yourself or let them do it for you! please read this website for a better explanation!

Home : U-Brew it - Brew on Premise in AUSTRALIA - introducing AUSTRALIA'S first MICRO-CANNING system.

i hope this helps you a little, failing that arrange an export license lol

One of the best Aussie real ales is Murrays from NSW - hard to find but worth looking for.

Hi, my hubby is also a control panel wireman. I've been searchin the oz websites for jobs, but don't know what they are called over there.

John has his visa now, and we are about to put the house on the market, but are really nervous about job prospects.

Do you know where you might head? We are looking at Brisbane at the moment, but will go where the jobs are.

Good luck

Hi John and Tracey

In Oz Panel wiremen are known as switchgear wireman (not politically correct I know)

We have just been trying to get family onside and behind us before we go all guns blazing and put the house on the market. We are due to go on hoilday to Crete on September and then when we return we will be trying to sell the house. It will be our last european hoilday so we are going with family.

We are still trying to get all the money together we need for the visa application etc but hubby was busting a gut to get some rays before the long and costly process.

We really want to go to Adelaide, we don't have any family or friends there but we are just desperate to have and happier and healthier life for our children 8 and 6 and our dog!!

Where are you planning on moving to?

Do you have any family over there?

Take care

Ada
