Guest Mr B & Miss D Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Just a quickie folks! If you can get a possible employer to sponsor you, do you still require the TRA assessment?
Guest Gollywobbler Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Hi there It is not essential to get the TRA assessment if someone is willing to sponsor you. However, it is better if you do get it in advance because without it you are tied to working for the employer for 2 years before he can sponsor you for PR (unless it is possible to set up the criteria for an RSMS visa, I guess, but I wouldn't choose RSMS if I could choose 457/ENS instead for the PR element.) If you have a positive TRA assessment, the employer can sponsor you for PR as soon as you and he are happy to proceed with it. It is probably easier to get the TRA assessment before you leave the UK because it is easier to organise references etc whilst you are here than trying to do that from miles away. In my opinion, there is no doubt at all that the best thing by miles is to get the TRA assessment and then proceed with the PR visa application (subclass 856, I think) asap because there are various restrictions on 457 visa holders which disappear once the sc 856 visa is granted. I've answered because you are on line now and billy bravheart is in bed and unlikely to respond till Monday pm Perth (WA) time. However, billy is the guy to ask about this because he has done it all and is living through the process as we speak. He took the precaution of getting his TRA assessment and I should think their PR status will be confirmed before they have been in Oz for a year. Cheers Gill
