Actually you have made a good point there, maybe it should be called Moving Back Home

If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.

Hi LoChica

No, not relocating to Spain but to France to semi retire next year.

I must say you are being pretty brave to be thinking of going back to Spain with all its travails at the moment, let me know what prompted that.

Regards

Ahhh thank you so much!

Yes we are hoping to leave in January now, our youngest will see out Year 6 as we felt that was important for her before they all go their seperate ways to High School..............this way she will be able to enjoy Camp, Formal Dinner, Year 6 Leavers farewell etc etc

I will keep you posted but as I expected there doesn't seem to be many people going the same way as us haha

Whereabouts will you be heading when you eventually go?

Our home is in Andalucia on the border of Granada and Malaga

Hi Lojachica

We are thinking of western France somewhere like the Charente but could be looking further south, we are spoilt by the weather here so need some warmth and sun, at least in the summer.

Cost of housing, cost of everything here now too expensive to allow for a reasonable retired life with some treats like touring Europe thrown in and it is too boring to think that we are going to be locked into living here for next 20 years, don't like the appalling political administration of the country, the decision making is so backward that I see no future for Australia beyond constant boom and bust with all the problems that brings. People are very nice in general but far too accepting of performances in public life that in other countries would see people forced to resign or be prosecuted for corruption, there are no consequences for anybody in a position of power such as police , prison guards, politicians , developers, immigration bureaucrats, how ever bad their behaviour is.

So a last throw of the dice for us, and as you say another chapter and see if France can give us the good life in the center of Europe. Quite disappointed that this chapter has not worked out better but we have escaped the worst of the GFC and we are better off than when we came but never factored in the lack of sophistication at every level and how this feeds into so many parts of living here.

Hope you will be able get back into employment in Spain and that you can make it work for you, at least you will be back on a continent where people have some vague understanding of human rights and what Socialism means even if its rarely practiced.

Hi Oz to France

The Charente is beautiful, we moved to Oz from the Charente Maritime and do miss it. You will have the micro climate in the Maritime area which keeps it very warm from April to October.

Hi Lojachica

My family are from Spain, Murcia and all employed and happy, apart from Dad who is happily retired.

We did the opposite, after living in limousin in central France and then moving down to Murcia in Spain, we ended up in Sydney.

I like it here, but I do miss both France and Spain badly. I have no doubt we will be retiring back there (probably France near the Spanish border) in a few years.

Serious question, after living in beautiful parts of France and Spain why on earth did you move to oz.

I had a choice, stay living in Europe but spend all of my time away from the family working in the Middle East and Africa, or move to aus and come home at night after work.

Mind you, with a teenage daughter that decision occasionally comes back to haunt me.
