Just wondering - we saw it last night, and were just blown away. We spent a lot of time backpacking around the areas involved, and met a lot of locals, shall we say. Very few like that, but you had the suspicion they were out there.....

It is a very violent horror true story film made via True Crime Australia. Only for the strong stomached.

Just made us think of Joanne Lees and Peter Falconio and Ivan Milat (whatever his name is).

10/10 for the film - totally stunning. But very hard to watch.

Anyone else seen it ? Interested to know what you thought ?

ps this is obviously very rare, but such a good Ozzie film, I had just had to mention it. On such a low budget too.

ps see Wikepedia for info. Quite accurate.

Hi there

I watched the film a couple of weeks ago with my hubbie. I Had to leave the room in the end as I dont like gore! But watched it up to where the young guy was tied up so saw most of it.

I dont like films like that as it makes you realise what has actually happened to some people and the thought makes me feel sick.

I know it was set in the outback but there are weirdos like that all over the world.

It certainly hits a punch. I am not good at horror, but it was just so.................... I could not stop watching it. And want to buy the DVD - how sad is that ?

The weirdest film I have ever seen - so realistic, so "it happened" but so, OMG.

As I say, it blew us away. And yes, it does happen all over the world - but that Ozzie criminal was just so brilliant. But I have read reviews where a lot of people had to leave the cinema during it, so it takes a strong stomach. And the lead actor starred in Mcleod's Daughters !!!!

But the setting in the Bush that we have spent so much time in camping- really spooky.

Just had a real impact on us. A xxxxx

I know - we want to go there but.................

OMG what a good film, and a rare gem. And i'd never heard of it before we found it by accident in the video shop. No I do not think I'd park my car at that particular car park. But you do sometimes get that creepy feeling in the outback - or I have anyway. We have a lot of disused mines here, (eg Ravenswood) , who knows ??? Spooky.

I watched it a few years ago, it had just come out and yeah it really freaked me out.

I have actually watched it about 4,5 times since then as everyone i talk to about it wants to watch it and i end up watching it with them! I did look into it abit more on the internet as it really did affect me when i watched it. It does make you ask yourself that question though................. would you go to wolf creek! arrhhhhhh i dont think a big whole in the ground is worth it !

Yes we bought it at christmas, very good film,if you look it up on google,it says the film is only based on a true story, and a lot of it is just fiction, but it did scare me to death

I agree - how much is truth and a compilation on of stuff i dont know.

But a good film.................. scared the hell out of me. They say it's based on truth, but with 10% (allegedly) of backpackers going missing, who the hell knows. I mean, they all have pig dogs all round here, and that freaks me out (my sophie is black and not un piglet like). But this is the hobby here - pig hunting at the weekend - much worse than fox hunting. God only knows the truth.

ps highly recommend the film - food for thought about he darker side of Oz (and it does exist, trust me).

Hi

I have seen it & was very glad that I'd not watched it before we went to Australia as if I had I think I'd have been a bit less enthusiastic to go driving into the outback! Good movie but very scary!

We survived for quite a while.Even with wierdos around......... Just a great Ozzie movie that struck a chord. a xxxx

Hi allie

It was a very good movie. Apparently some of it was (very loosely) based upon the disappearance of Peter Falconio. The guy that played the killer was out of something else and I can't think what it was but he made a very good psycho!

We watched it bout a year ago. Very creepy, but I love a good horror. Have many in my collection. Although I have to admit 90% of the horror films I watch are behind my hands.

We saw the film at a friends house just before we went to Oz in Oct 2006 for a holiday. The first thing I did was look it up. Fortunatly we weren't going anywhere near the place.

On thinking about the film at a later date, how much was based on a true story? The guy wakes up in a cave and doesn't see the girls at all, so how did he know what happened. My theory is that he actually had something to do with the girls going missing an made up the story to throw the suspicion off him.

Something for the people who've seen it to think about. For those that haven't seen it, I highly recommend you watch it (if you dare) it is really that good!!!!

Don't have nightmares :wideeyed:

It certainly is a scary film.:arghh::arghh:

Some of the local here in Adelaide think it was the guy who did it and made up the story around it (allegedly - before I get sued).:cute:

Well we could not work out the ending of Wolf Creek when the lad who survived was in a suit at court. There was too little explanation as to why he was there - as a witness or as a suspect ? I mean he came out of it with really bad injuries that could not have been self inflicted ???

That was the only part of the film that I felt let it down. I mean, look what happened to Joanne Lees - she was a suspect for a long time out here, poor girl.

How much of it is true, who knows - but it is certainly not too far from the Ivan Milat story. In the Directors interview he said he wanted to show an ozzie character totally different to Crocodile Dundee/Steve Irwin or other fairdinkum exports. I think the lead actor actually is a handyman in Better Homes and Gardens, as well as having starred in McCleods Daughters.

Thats out of order your just trying to scare every one not to come out to Aus. And you **** me up now as we are about to set off over land from Brissie to Perth.

I won't watch it till we get back 2 Essex then I'll **** my self in the comfort of my own home.

We was out in the out back a few weeks ago talking to some nomad fella traverling Aus all of a sudden I realised we was giving this fella to much info and tryed giving him some bull**** about our travels, unfortunatly Andrea did not catch on and looked at me strangly and said your talking bollocks.

and contiued to tell this fella everything.

She **** her self when I told her what was going through my mind. We were standing out side a vidio store with a Wolf creek poster in window I never told Andrea as that would have freaked her out.

I suppose he was just a nice fella but you can never be to careful.

Hope you settle when you get back to Blighty.

Oops sorry......... but I guess you get these weirdos everywhere there is remote stretches, not just in Oz.

Like you say, you just have to be careful what you say to who when backpacking. But we had a fabulous time - Greyhounding and camper-vanning. And boy, did we stay in some DIVES......

But most Ozzies were so brilliant - that's part of the reason why we fell in love with the place in the first place. Guess it would have made a difference to where we went if I had seen Wolf Creek first tho. Still want to go there tho !!!

who got off ? do you mean the psycho or the lad at court. That's the bit we could not work out !!!!

If it was the psycho, is that cos it was a "compilation" of true crimes and not a specific criminal ? They found Bradley Walsh in the end................

Don't know how much was "based on events" or a true story. What d'ya reckon ????
