calNgary Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Where can you buy a house for $220,000 in Australia now??lol Cal x
Guest Mrs Braveheart Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Hi Tracey Cant comment on WDU as I am in Oz haven't seen it. But from what I read on here its really depressing this series & no one wants to stay. I would think it was unlikley to get a house for that price never mind on that salary. But i am no mortgage advisor. My advise to everyone watching this series of WDU is to stop watching it and still follow your dreams. Or have I just picked it up wrong?? Janette

Hi Tracey were they not including the equity they had on their house in the UK one of the houses they said they could practically buy out right so they would only need a small mortgage.

Guest zak Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I am currently in the process of a job application which will see me earn roughly £25000 a year. I have been watching WDU and have seen house prices and it has spooked me. There is no way I'm going to be able to afford a 450000 dollar house on my salary. How can people do it????

Last I heard house prices were pushing seven times (x7) earnings making aus one of, if not the most, expensive places in the world for buying a house for first time buyers. The sooner the market corrects the better for all.
buckbuchanan Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Glad i'm not the only one thinking the WDU figures just don't add up! I think you have to take these programs with a pinch of salt. I do think the people who have been on it this year have seemed negative from the start and have been finding stupid things as a reason for not going - to me this is the same as not really wanting to go. I want to check it out and make my own mind up!
a&s Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 :biglaugh:You could always live in a caravan !!!:biglaugh:
