Think you're reading it incorrectly... "met in person" as, have you seen your partner in the flesh.. so tick "yes" if you've seen the internet catch in person. Assume you have...

Surely they must realise that a lot of relationships start on the interweb these days...

Myself, I saw mine at the Tube station and thought I'd have a bit of that... If I ever had to go looking again I'd get on those dating websites...

Or give them a shout to see what they say...

No, its a requirement of the visa. What if you hate them when you actually meet?

I am not sure what to say really....Don't you think it would be a good idea to actually meet your future husband/wife before committing to marriage ?

How about a tourist visa for you to visit a few weeks, or for him/her to visit you, so you can at least spend time together and see if you like each other in reality ?

No,

http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/partners/prospective/300/eligibility-applicant.htm

[h=2]Relationship[/h] You must have met (as adults) your intended spouse in person and know him or her personally. This must be the case even if:

  • it is an arranged marriage
  • you and your sponsor met as children and the marriage was arranged before you turned 18 years of age
  • you met on the internet (exchanging photographs is not evidence of having met in person).

Well could your future partner perhaps visit you on a holiday ? Then that way you would have met and so fulfill the visa requirement.

So apply again, what reasons where you given for rejection? Not every one from the middle east is rejected. You focus on the reason for rejection and give proof that you are a genuine tourist. Or they come to you for a holiday?

You have to meet in person for this visa there's no way around this. Either you go theRe, she comes to you or you meetin a third location.

Otherwise this visa is not for you. Other options might be skilled migrant or employer sponsored perhaps.

They dont usually reject people because they are from a specific country. You say you were rejected because they believe you would overstay your visa and not return home. Do you have a job? have family to care for? These are reasons to return home which you need to show within your visa application.

But otherwise you're partner will have to visit you. Or like Rupert says apply for a skilled visa if you have an occupation?
