Guest Gardiner Gang Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Before Xmas our Tra application failed and our agent advised not to resubmit the application as he said it would more than likely be the same guy that assessed the application. He has advised us to hang on and wait to see if pathway D is reinstated. I have no patience what so ever and want to get to OZ NOW. We thought about it over christmas and thought the best way would be Sponsorship. My OH is a chef, we have applied to some jobs over in WA but have heard nothing. We are considering Mark going over to Perth area and looking for a sponsor. We spoke to our Agent today and he has said hardly any chefs get sponsorship unless in an executive posititon which oh is not. He is still going to have a look for some info on jobs for us. Going by recruitment sites there are hundreds of chefs jobs in WA but none willing to sponsor. Our Agent is still telling us to wait, his sources have said that the department have not yet decided what is happening to Pathway D and what changes are going to be made to it. We asked what time scale we are looking at for a decision to be made, he advised us 2wks to 2mths. I was feeling quite positive of us getting there this year but after speaking to him I am feeling quite despondant. Not sure if we will ever get there. I watch wanted down under everyday and wish it was us on the programme. Does anyone know if it is possible for chefs to get sponsorship or know any companies willing to sponsor? any help greatly appreciated. Pauline:cry:

ali Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I know of people who have come over to oz and managed to secure sponsorship - the only thing you would have lost out on is the air fare if you didn't manage to get something. If it's something you can afford to do then why not? I'd come well prepared though, CV maybe a portfolio of the things he can do etc., any speciality things that he does. Ali
