Guest mandy1970 Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Hi all We aren't taking any tv's with us but wondered if we needed to take uk video and dvd players with us so that the kids can play their films or would the tapes and discs work in aussie players? Also the same for stereo's? Any help would be great Mandy
Guest Danw Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Hi, Your UK DVDs will play in Australian DVD players as long as you get a multi region player.
Quoll Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Your VHS tapes will be fine in any Aussie video player. You may be able to deregionalise your dvd player so it will play region 2 and 4 dvds. Try here DVD Player Hack List for a simple code which will unlock your dvd region. Many dvd players that you buy here can be hacked. I have a couple of LG players which were dead easy to unlock. Stereos - no problems there.
The Broughtons Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 OH did a google search to find the code to switch our DVD player to multi region, it now plays aussie dvds as well! Felicity:wub:
Guest hazel and dave Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 I read somwhere that the Australian government decided that region locking DVD players was against thte best interst of the consumer and that all DVD players bought down under must be region free or sold with the unlock code...????? That may however have been a wishful hallucination brought on whilst burning my brain out on the techie forums looking for info about dvd recorders. Worth thinking about though... Hazel
