Guest Ron Manager Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Just thought I'd introduce myself after signing up. My wife and 2 kids are planning on moving to Brisbane some time this year. We are applying on a subclass 461 as a family member of a New Zealand citizen (my wife is a Kiwi). Basically all of her immediate family live in Oz now and have citzenship. Has anyone else applied for this particular visa? I have been told that it is just a formality but am realistic enough to know that isn't neccesarily going to be the case. Ideally we'd like to be there for the Aussie winter (to get acclimatised weather wise before summer kicks in) but I won't be applying untill mid to late February (waiting for NZ passports for the kids). Work wise I'm a Bank Manager in the UK and would be looking to do something similair in Oz.....feedback on that has been positive so far, with email contact made with a few potential employers who have been impressed with my CV. Any hints or tips gladly accepted! Andrew
Guest Gollywobbler Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Hi Andrew Welcome to Poms in Oz. I've not seen anything about the subclass 461 visa on PiO, but I can tell you for sure that Buzzy-Bee, over on British Expats, is also married to a lass from NZ and he is now in Oz on a 461 visa. Please see here: British Expats - Search Results Please also see here: British Expats - Search Results Best wishes Gill

I haven't found any disadvantages with it, but I will be applying for PR soon as I don't want to be a long-term TR. You can't work in some permanent roles with the visa like government ones though, don't know whether that would apply to banks. Good luck. Buzzy
