Guest Lee & Barb Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Hello all! Does anybody know if there is a hard and fast rule as to how many years experience are needed to apply as a gas fitter as i have got conficting information.:err: Living and working in Australia(David Hampshire) gives a guideline of 3 years for skilled visas, but i have also heard 6 years and the DIMA website appears to say 12 of the previous 24 months proir to application (may just be me mis-reading it!!!) and the TRA requires 900+ hours (less than 12 months), so which is the correct one to go on??? If this option is a no-go then i am also thinking of vehicle trimmer as i spent 6+ years making car seats.....any info on this option would be extremely useful also. Thanks for any answers in advance. Lee & Barb.
Guest the ps Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Hi Lee and Barb My husband is a gas fitter and he had to have 6 years experience to pass the TRA. But I know the skills assessments changed in September so it may be worth contacting an agent to ask for some free advise over the phone or check on the DIMA website under skills. Where are you thinking of going ? Good Luck. Brenda:wubclub:
Guest Lee & Barb Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Thinking of heading down to Victoria, seems as though there a little low on the trades there, and climate wise, it would be a bit easier for us to settle with 2 small children. (One is a freckly red head !) Liking the look of Geelong / Torquay / Anglesea. Local industry nearby means that Lee can fall back on Production work. Local TAFE Colleges would allow him to update his skills quickly. Lee & Barb
