gmmpyn
Hi all, just considering a move back to OZ, and I can't remember if secondary school teachers' pensions are non contributory - i.e. does the state/government pay in on my behalf? If so, anyone know by how much? Cheers, Darrell.
Ellie 2
You pay for your own pension. It's not as good a scheme as it used to be. Talking about NSW but guess the others would be the same.
gmmpyn
Thanks for the reply Ellie 2. I also emailed the AEU yesterday and they sent this reply: Australian superannuation legislation requires all employers to contribute at least 9% of salary to an employee’s superannuation account. Details of the SA Government SSS superannuation scheme are at www.supersa.sa.gov.au Seems there is at least a 9% contribution - better than nothing!
