Guest Levimouse
I've gone over the DIAC reports which I think are pretty useful. I particularly liked the graph which set out how many EOIs had 60, 65, 70 points etc etc per visa type. Having looked at this graph and I am now thinking that us with 65 points may been in with a chance of an invite (admittedly I have also applied for WA SS but I'd still prefer to apply for a 189). From what I can see 600 applicants had 65 points on a 189 visa in July. Just over 200 had 70 points, 100 had 75 points and maybe 75 had 80. This is all done very roughly as the graph lines do not line completely up with the figures 60, 65, 70 etc. So that would mean that in July only 375, say 400 applicants had more than 65 points. Take off the 100 already invited, leaves 300. Surely once DIAC are satisfied the system is ok they will be inviting significantly more than 300 per month. Did someone quote on here that DIAC plan to allow 40k applicants in on a 189? If that's the case they need to be inviting over 3,000 per month - actually 4,000 per month as they lost July and August. So if they are inviting 4,000 a month and in July only 400 had more than 65 points they surely must need to invite the 65ers and even the 60ers. I hope that makes sense. In my defence if it's total bollox it's because I have my 2.5yr old running round me and my 7 month old grabbing the laptop.
Joanna82
You are forgetting the occupation ceiling. Some professions will get invited with 60p others with 70+ won't.
Angie C
You made me laugh out loud! I too have been analysing this way and that way and I dont have children! And yes what is up with the graphs, I wondered why they choose to use lines because there is no chance of 63 points and 71 points ect. Just use a chart that has columns for 60, 65, 70 for heavens sake!! I also have 65 points and everything is crossed for an invite on Saturday. At this point I feel bombarded with information that I can just hope for the best. Good luck to you too!

Will DIAC be inviting the highest scorers out of the total pool or those from each individual occupation group. I'm sure this has been answered before by someone but can't remember what they said. Good luck to you too! thanks angie. I've been making myself laugh. You can talk I'm an accountant and love spreadsheets and graphs. After I read the reports at 5am this morning (the joy of night feeding) I then dreamt I'd been invited to apply. Woke up confused then disappointed. I'm sure this has been answered before by someone but can't remember what they said. I doubt they take total scores, that doesn't make much sense. What would be interesting to know is how they allocate the total number of places for each occupation, do they invite the top ranked 1/12 each month? If so, applicants with low point scores might wait forever since every new EOI with a higher score will outrank them.

A4Ron
I think the 40k applicant includes family members. So they couldn't do 4k per month as applicant may be a family of 4. And I reckon 65ers are going to be very lucky to get a invite, if at all it will be end of year to fill spaces and only early applicants will be offered. I reckon 60ers and 65ers will be the new Cat5ers from the old GSM categories.

So if only 400 have more than 65 they'll still have to invite some. Maybe I'm clutching at straws, although not sure why as have applied for a 190 as well. Angie C
Hmmmm... maybe I have missed it but my understanding is that there will be 45,500 of the 189 visas issued for the year. I haven't read anywhere that the number includes family members of the 189 visa holder. Including phantom numbers of family would be quite difficult for DIAC to even plan for because then they would not know how many people with the skills they need are actually getting a visa. I suppose if I added all the occupational ceiling amounts together i.e. mine has 1260 for the year then it should come up to 45,500? I'm staying positive for Saturday that us 65's will get an invite! Levimouse- you never know Friday late night feeding may be the best wake up call ever!

Guest Levimouse
ARGH!! No invite for us 65s! MAybe on the 15th Sept! I see 70 points made it in this round I know! We've got less chance when they split it like this as it gives more time for people with 70+ points to apply and put us back again.
george106
Hi, just seen report from September 2012 round and there was nearly 300 EOIs with 65 points invited. In October there would be 2000 invitations issued.
