Guest crisstinuts
Hi guys, I'm a Romanian living in the Uk, I got married here and i'm working on a self employed basis as a beautician. Recently my hubby came up with the idea of migrating to Australia. Where do we start from and how? Which part of Australia would be suitable for this type of job? How is the life style there, job situation, salaries and the most important thing:the weather?! ) To work as a beautician here a didn't need any qualifications, is it the same there? I would much appreciate if anyone has any answers, Thanks very much.
Rupert
You need to see if you qualify for a visa first of all. Go to www.immi.gov.au and check the occupations lists, the SOL and the CSOL as a first step.
Guest crisstinuts
Hi, Thank you for your reply I had a look on the list and I could apply as a massage therapist and my husband as a barber, but I understood that you have to be invited to apply in order to be able to apply for a skilled independent visa?! How does that work? Do I need to have a job offer from there ( which sounds impossible ! ) ? Thank you.
bell123321
If you look on the website listed by the previous poster you can find out if you get enough points. On this website it lists what points you need: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/points-test.htm You need to go on the following website to apply: http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/ You need to first pay to get your job assessed and wait for a positive skills assessment once you have got that you can apply for a visa using the EOI on the website above. Once you have applied your application stays in a pool for 2 years (I think). If you get pooled from the pool you get an invitation to apply where you prove all your claims (dont make any false ones otherwise your rejected) this includes proving work experience, qualifications etc then you will need to get medicals and police certificates. If your job is on the list that Rupert mentioned you do not need to have a job beforehand unless your applying for a sponsered visa (such as state sponsorship). I hope that helps a little bit. wrussell
that you can apply for a visa using the EOI on the website above An EoI is not a visa application.

If I'm not mistaken massage therapists and hairdressers are on Schedule 2 of the CSOL, which means that you can only qualify for a state sponsored visa (as far as skilled visas go). The other option is to find an employer that would be willing to sponsor you. I know Western Australia has those occupations on their sponsorship lists, but not Victoria or NSW (don't know about the other states).

That is correct - these occupations will Need State SPonsorship. You should run your case past a Registered Migration agent to see if you qualify for GSM
