ymummy 10 Posted August 6, 2012 This question is for those who have received they containers what if you declared stuff and forgot something? did they open all boxes? how much do they charge to destroy or clean? do they spoil stuff by opening it e.g jars, packets, pic frames? how long does it take to clear customs obviously im now in the panic stage of 'stop dont send it, got to clean some more..or bin it..' thanks
tdk43 61 Posted August 6, 2012 Everything was much easier than I had ever imagined! The packers packed our things, and when everything arrived it was wrapped the way it left. They checked my husbands toolbox, and thing that's all really. Don't panic, it will all come together. ymummy 10 Posted August 6, 2012 hi Donna, had a sleepless night as kept thinking I havent washed/cleaned/binned enough stuff from the container the packers were brilliant e.g my husband took off his bedroom slippers to put on his shoes turned around and they had packed it lol 30 seconds all in all, what a laugh.. told him to keep moving in case he would find himself in bubblewrap anyway, the aqis form is worrying me as I have written everything, but was reading other posts(should have read others first before writing) that its seems to be potluck as to which officer opens the boxes so.. fingers crossed X
Love Shoes 2,704 Posted August 6, 2012 They only opened one of our boxes and actually it was a large plastic box with Christmas decorations in it, so they could see through it. There was one stray decoration apparently made of corn husk which they took a dislike too, and it had to be destroyed, it cost $76 (I think) it could have been treated for $200+ but we had it destroyed, I am still trying to think what it might have been. We shipped a Dyson vacuum cleaner which we took apart and cleaned to an inch of it´s life, the packers wrapped it and taped it up, but they never looked at it, we declared this item. They didn´t check anything because I was there when the packers arrived and I could tell they hadn´t been rummaging, apart from the Christmas tree decoration box that is, which was easy for them to see ... Hope this helps, and good luck. x
ymummy 10 Posted August 6, 2012 I cleaned the vacuum cleaner as well but maybe I should have soaked it in bleach n jeyes n mr muscle etc so worried..
wetnwindy 11 Posted August 6, 2012 We cleaned everything, declared nothing, shipped stuff that wasn't clean that was meant to stay! They only opened 1 box that was named Dog Kennel! We don't have a dog, it was a folding metal camping table that the packer thought was a kennel??? Chainsaw and pressure washer got through without inspection. All Xmas boxes were untouched i even managed to slip 2 bottles of malt into the kitchen boxes, not recommending this by the way! It's pot luck if they open it up and how well your packers label the shipping list. Ours were great and mentioned no wood etc. Good luck!
Futureinoz 13 Posted August 6, 2012 Bought a load of clear plastic containers as our packers said thats fine, as they can see whats in them, not on the inventory and hence wrap and seal them up for the trip..

Try not to worry, we were the same, we gave away loads of stuff, that in hindsight we could probably have got through without any hassle. Such as our jet wash and patio furniture, just make sure they are clean and you should be fine. Check out the restricted items list on their website if you abide by their rules you shouldn´t have any issues. If in doubt just ask on the forum. Good luck x
tdk43 61 Posted August 7, 2012 We shipped a tent, a pressure washer and lots of other things, but there were no problems. The removal company said that there is normally no problems with the shipping contents?! Not sure how true, but we ourselves had no problems.
