I had to laugh when I read this article in the Sydney Morning Herald where the writer states that Gold medals are "trashy, gaudy and flashy" And how Gold medals "don't count like they used to" and how "Silver is now the new Gold" and subtly implying that the Gold Medalist is "egocentric, self-obsessed and prone to cheating". Methinks this might be a case of sour grapes on his part.......I'm sure if the Australian team had won more Gold medals it would be a different story...

*waits for them to appear*

Oops......I didn't want to start any war of words, lol! I just found the article entertaining...

Come on, obviously it's a tongue in cheek article - not a bad one, too

Fitz and Richard Hinds are the stand out writers on the SMH and are doing a great job at the Olympics IMO - unlike some of their colleagues. People here have been joking about "Silver being the new gold" for a few days now

Aussies love giving it...but have always hated taking it..says a lot to be honest.

You seem to know all about that eh? Make some ridiculous statement, or post an edited cut and paste, and when "pulled" on it, fail to respond and then start another thread..............your "Blackpool" thread for example................fell flat on it's face eh? Says a lot to be honest
