The main thing I'd say is to expect things to be different from the UK, and although some things may not seem as good, you'll find other things that you like better here! Also, once you're earning $'s, try to think in $'s, otherwise you'll feel like a pauper and things will seem stupidly expensive.

Also, view it as a adventure, and enjoy the experience!

Have you been to the Central Coast before? If not, there are lots of lovely places to see. (I live on 'the Coast'). I'd say, avoid Terrigal at the height of summer - it takes ages to get in and out, and there are other places to go for breakfast by the ocean and quieter beaches to enjoy.

Don't be afraid to ask, if you need help or advice. I'm happy for you to PM me, though I don't guarantee I know the answer to every question!. I should add, I don't have kids, so I don't know too much about the local schools, other than really general stuff. But I'm always happy to help if I can.

If I lived near a station - which I do - Central - and I worked near a station - which I also do - Penrith, then the train is the only way to go. But when I've worked at places which are a long way from stations/direct bus routes, I prefer to drive to work.

Where are you going to be working? Your wife is going to have a pretty awful daily commute, I would not be considering the Central Coast to live if I worked in Turramurra. Google maps indicates it is a 47 minute drive, but I reckon you could double that in rush hour.

she'll be working shifts, so hopefully will miss alot of the traffic. However, tbh, all she has been told is that she will be working across the 2 sites. How often this will be, we dont know, and whether she will work at one more than the other... dont know :(...... shes really hoping its erina, and we believe it is just a temp arrangement whilst they are short staffed....... Turramurra looks lovely but also very expensive rent wise, central coast looks more affordable for us we think?
