Guest JK2510
http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/newshome/14432248/teenage-suicides-raise-alarm/ What a shocking but very true news story....I would agree it is definatly on the rise....I wonder if social networking sites like Facebook has a connection.. For all those with grumpy teens it is important to try and distinguish whether it is just a grumpy hormonal normal teen or depression....I thought my teen was just a grumpy typical teen....how wrong was I.....I was lucky to catch it before she was one of those statistics..... Guest Guest63690
Crikey it's double that in the UK In 2010 approx 5600 people committed suicide in the UK, which as you rightly pointed out, is over double the figures for Oz at approx 2100. However the population ratio is approx 20 million people in Oz to 60 million people living in the UK, therefore in real terms, it is as prevalent in both countries. The positive news in both countries is that the suicide rate is gradually falling, thanks to greater awareness of depression, better medication, etc. As someone who has lost a loved one to suicide, anything that gets people talking about it is a good thing. Guest Guest63690
Thats a huge number.....every 90 minutes in the UK someone commits suicide... Even more sobering thought. The World health Organisation released statistics in 2007 which suggested one person in the world commits suicide ever 40 seconds. http://nitawriter.wordpress.com/2007/05/11/suicide-rates-of-the-world/ and this link for how it breaks down in terms of suicide rates around the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_suicide_rate
