Hi

We are looking to move to the Brisbane area and I am looking for ideas for Areas where we can access good schools.

Does anyone have any suggestions of locations and names of schools we could review

Also thinking of going private and would appreciate any advise on how the system works in Oz

Many thanks

First up.................whereabouts in brisbane will you be locating to? You need to decide where you are going to live for work access and then look at schools from that perspective. My kids were privately schooled as were some of my foster kids so I can help there, but it's a big region and you need to be more specific.

Western suburbs of Brisbane have some great schools both private and state. Have a look in the Indooroopilly and Toowong area's to start and suburbs around there.. Private schools in that area you could look at are Brisbane Boys College, St Aidens (girls Anglican) easy access into Brisbane by train so then you have have a heap of top schools, but as i said also some good state schools in that area as well.

Hi there Kirsty , I'm also moving into brisbane in the next week or so in fact and am trying to absorb as Mich info in the school system as poss . We are atheists so will not be sending our daughter to a religious school , so it's either state or private for us . We are looking at bulimba balmoral and Hawthorne at present . Bulimba has an excellent state primary school and it's my understanding that if we live in the catchment then they have to take us ! Private seems reasonably expensive but im not ruling if out at present . At present we are thinkIng that we will try for a state school in a really good area such as bulimba then this could work for us ?!? we are going to be moving into Brisbane without really knowing anyone at all so I'm happy to try and get involved as well which seems to be really encouraged ! I'm not sure if you are here or not yet Kirsty but good luck and drop me a line anytime ! I would also appreciate feedback from

Anyone else on any of the above ! Our little girl is almost five and is eligible to start prep year at the end of jan so we will have to make decisions very quickly ! Argh ! Emma
