Hot Welder
OOPs Meant to say metal fabricator!!!!! I had to make a paper tray from sheet steel. Some theory, first and third angle drawings, health and safety, demonstrate some measuring and marking out. Was asked questions as you worked to demonstrate understanding. No welding, but option to do some if you wanted. Started about 8:15am, first hour brief, health and safety etc. (optional) Break for lunch, (up to an hour) tidy up and completed for about 5pm. jjeetthh
See post above. You would need to check with Vetassess whether you would do practical assessment or technical interview. Hi HotWelder? are you already based here in Australia? If yes, did you go for aPractical assessment, Technical interview or Technical interview via web conferencing?I have an ongoing assessment with Vetassess. I just got a recognition letter with a: Training and employment check outcome : Level 2, which says that - Documentary evidence supplied partially meets the trade requirements. A comprehensive skills assessment will be required. You are invited to proceed to a skills assessment however, caution is recommended as there is a risk of an unsuccessful outcome. Gaps in experience or knowledge were identified in some areas. Please check your result letter for further details. Cheers mate!

mikef
Hi HotWelder I also have applied for a visa, as a metal fabricator (322311). I have had my Training and Employment check come back as a successful. Level 1. I have been booked on to do my Practical Assessment in December. I have been reading through your comments, and you have mentioned that you never did any welding, and this was optional. Can you please give a little more information why this was the case within the Assessment? Is the assessment done as a points scoring assessment? If so what kind of number of points do you require for a successful result? Also you mentioned, there was some Theory work. What does this involve? Is it test like papers? or just questions regarding your job? i.e. how to develop drawings, how you would go about doing certain jobs etc. Where are now in regards to your Visa application? And where will you be likely to be heading in Oz? I thank you in advance for answering my questions. Look forward to hearing from you.
