Dogs can't fly !

Our 2 dogs were turned away at the airport when the vet checked the paperwork because they were not happy with the rabies paperwork ! Only they were stuck in the cages for 3 hours before they were sent home!! Has this happened to anyone else ?

Our vet apparently didn't register their rabies jabs on their vaccination certificates and the deceleration and lab reports were not enough!!! I did use an agent ( who I will not mention ) but to be honest I think it's down to them because that's what I paid them for, to check everything was in order !

Thanks for you kind words Love shoes xxxx

So sorry to hear what has happened; hope you get a substantial discount from your agent for the distress caused. Here's hoping it will be sorted very quickly.

Did the vet give any indication as to when the dogs could fly, this is awful.

The agent should be ashamed on themselves, this is their job and they should know the exact time line, et. We had a fantastic animal courier, ours shipped our dogs from Spain to the UK, where they were to finish off the remainder of their quarantine period, after their blood test in November. One dog died shortly after he arrived in the UK, which was very said, in a nutshell, I moved over quicker than I had planned a) because I was missing my husband and b) I was just struggling to get over my dog .... my in laws offered to look after our little dog and I asked our courier if this would be OK, she said it was no problem, I started to get tests done but then left everything in the capable hands of the courier and my MIL ...... who is in her 80´s, both the agent and my MIL did amicably and even though they lived at different parts of the country the courier talked / walked my MIL through everything and everything went perfect and our dog arrived on in OZ on schedule.

It is OK to get members to PM you if you want to warn them, I would be tempted ...... hope you get it all sorted soon, when are you due to fly out yourselves, I bet this has caused a load of problems ....

Please can you pm me the agents name, you are correct this should have been checked by the agent, although it would depend on which service you opted for

Our dogs were put on a flight the next day which is ok but the person we had lined up to take them to the airport couldn't do it the next day so we had to pay another £150 for someone to pick them up and take them to the airport, which I wasn't happy about because they had to be with a stranger !! We have been in Melbourne 8 weeks so it was even harder because we are not there to sort things out for ourselves ! I am so worried about them because they have been through more trauma than they needed to !!!!

Tina, please do send me a pm.

I am sure the dogs will be fine and hopefully it won't be long now until they arrive at Spotswood and you can have a cuddle

Oh that's such good news - now remember to breathe again !

I'm preparing my lot for the trip back to Australia - we've done it the other way already.....so I know how you feel....mine have never done quarantine though, which is going to be much harder on me than them !

So glad you'll see yours soon.... :ssign19:

we used an agent, and this happen to us, it was our vets fault as despite all the agents best efforts and they were good the vet had missed one digit on their microchip, fortunately because the agent was with them, they went straight back and were flown out the next day, our vet having being got out of bed in the middle of the night to re do the paperwork because of their mistake, our dogs are now with us and absolutely fine
