Petals
This Article in today's age gives a synopsis of information from the recent census. Interesting stuff. I think I would head to the suburbs that have lost people as they are older and have the infrastructure. Getting to a station by 7 in the morning to get a car park is not fun http://www.theage.com.au/national/growth-pains-on-the-citys-fringe-20120731-23d73.html

starlight7
What happened in my suburb ( I was a census manager) was subdivision of many blocks - even tiny ones. They have shoved units and 2 storey buildings on loads of them, no gardens and often the windows from each house faces the next. Must have to keep the blinds closed at all times unless you want to watch a neighbour taking a leak or picking their nose! Unlike the UK the walls are not soundproofed and they are just brick veneers so if you get noisy neighbours, bad luck.
Petals
Sorry about the link I was reading the Age so not sure how the link got corrupted. I agree Starlight, they were supposed to not overlook people, etc but with all the self regulation this is not happening. I am not that sure about chopping up blocks of land as it goes hand in hand with infrastructure and is causing twice as many people to rely on existing infrastructure. Why oh why does the gov not realise they are not just there to count pennies they are actually there to provide services to the community.
