Guest Home
31 Jul 2012 SkillSelect Invitation Announcement On August 1st, the first invitation round for Skilled Independent (Subclass 189) and the family sponsored Skilled Nominated or Sponsored (Provisional) (subclass 489) visas will be held. As SkillSelect is a new and complex system, our first run of invitations will be reduced in size, to allow us to ensure that all elements of the system are working smoothly. As such, we will issue the following number of invitations: • 90 in the Skilled Independent subclass 189; and • 10 in the Skilled Nominated or Sponsored (Provisional) (family sponsored) subclass 489. The invitations will go to the highest scoring Expression of Interests (EOIs) in these subclasses, with ties in points decided by the date that the EOI reached their current points score. Clients that have been invited will receive a notification to their email address, as well as their SkillSelect inbox. However, while this first round of invitations will be comparatively small, we expect to be increasing the numbers of invitations issued, with a significantly larger round in September, and potentially a second round in August. Following the invitation round, we will publish the invitation results on the reports tab of the SkillSelect website: www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/ To date the enthusiastic uptake of SkillSelect by people all around the world interested in Skilled Migration to Australia has been pleasing. Need more information on the SkillSelect process For more information on how SkillSelect operates, please refer to our website which details the process: http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect Contacting the department If you need to contact the department, you should view our contact methods located on the department’s website at: http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/telephone.htm Thank you. --- I was expecting a much larger number of invitations. matte
31 Jul 2012 I was expecting a much larger number of invitations. Yep, me too. When I first read it I thought it was saying that there would be 90 invitations for my chosen occupation which has a ceiling of 2160 places. I thought well ok, that's probably fair 5% of the ceiling limit invited in the first month. It seems that this 90 and 10 is the overall amount of invitations that will be given out for all EOIs submitted! We know tens of thousands of people have already created SkillSelect accounts. I'm sure many have also submitted their EOIs. This number of invitations seems incredibly small.
Guest Levimouse
When I saw the message I thought I'd got an invite! Such a small number. I hope they do another round in August.

voxtro
When i add all listed occupational ceiling it was close to 370000 and if only 100 being processed for Aug makes the wait longer..

Guest Levimouse
where? so you guys got this in an EMAIL? I got no such email. Silly question but have you submitted your EOI? If yes did you submit it for a 189 or 489 visa? If you have submitted under another one then maybe you wont get the message but it wont relate to your EOI. Hope that makes sense. On your EOI submission page there is a tab labelled 'correspondence'. If you select that it lists all correspondence (including your EOI) with DIAC. This is where this message is. I still can't believe they are only inviting 100. I know the system is new and they are testing it out but surely they could have handled more than that. I guess anybody below 75 points wont get a look in for a while. I'm worried because as of 1st Sept my work experience meets the 3 year mark and I will go up from 65 to 70 points and I don't have the relevant documentation from my employer and skill assessor for the work experience requirement. Aaaahhh I was pinging all my hopes on getting invited before Sept (or at least knowing what the points level was buy then so I could decide to go down the SS route). Tarnations! Guest Levimouse
Does anyone know about the SkillSelect process for visa 176? As it wasn't mentioned above.. I'm not entirely sure but I thought they were still on the old system, i.e. you have to wait for allocation to a case officer etc etc. DIAC recommend that you submit an EOI to increase your chances of you application getting through. Sorry can't even remember if 176 is independent or sponsored.

I finally got the IElts mark I need last week, so I was wondering if applying for state sponsorship was he next step?

I finally got the IElts mark I need last week, so I was wondering if applying for state sponsorship was he next step? Oh so you haven't actually applied for a 176 then? If that's the case then you now have to use Skill select and put in an EOI for a 190. Have you got your skills assessed? You will need this also to put in an EOI. I think the process is as follows; 1. Get IELTS score required for your skill and state sponsorship requirement 2. Get skill assessed by relevant assessor 3. Submit EOI/Apply for state sponsorship - the order of these 2 depends on the State. For example if it's WA then you need to submit your EOI first then apply for SS. Once your SS is approved you will automatically receive an invitation.

You seem to know more than me, thank goodness:biggrin: I didnt get as far as applying for 176, it was the initial visa we were going for, but as I said, I have just got the IELTS marks need After lots of trying.. Hoping for SA sponsorship, Adelaide 1: Got the Ielts needed.. 2: Have the TRA assesment, passed with AQF 111 3: Submitted EOI. I did not know the next step, struggling to get hold of the agent at the moment..

I've looked at the SA migration website and they set out all that you need to do for SS. I am assuming that in your EOI you selected only SA for nomination as that is a requirement of theirs? I guess now that you have submitted your EOI you need to put in your application for SS with SA. If you are using an agent I imagine they will do this for you but you need to get the docs together for them.
Guest Levimouse
thanks Levimouse!I submitted a 'draft' EOI because i am still going thru getting my skills assessed but will update it when i get the results back. I had to create another EOI I can't remember my first EOI ID number - does anyone know how to retrieve this? thanks That's ok happy to help where I can. When you say draft I'm not sure what you mean. There is a question in the EOI on whether you have received a positive skills assessment. I had this as no until I had received mine and the EOI was not available to submit because of this. As soon as I selected yes then the submit button popped. Does that mean that you selected yes for your skills assessment and then submitted the EOI? I have just checked the faqs on the skill select website and it states that if you require a skills assessment for your visa then you will not be able to submit an EOI until you have it. Regarding your username I cannot find anywhere that addresses this issue. I recommend that you contact their support team to request this information. My worry is that you may get 2 invites based on both your EOI's and I am not sure how this will affect your visa if DIAC think you have been trying to increase your chances of an invite by submitting multiple EOI's (I know you haven't done this but they may take a hard line). Any thoughts from anyone else?

matte
Does anyone know the points scored by these EOIs? Or any guess? It seems that 75 points got some of the invites on 1st August. Two members on here received an invitation with 75 points. As far as I know no one with 70 did but there may be a 2nd round later this month. I doubt that but we shall see IF and WHEN I do get an invite. I wrote down my 2nd EOI ID number on a piece of paper, but I didn't for the first time I signed up.
