Guest smithnigel18
Hello everyone, Can I land in a state different than the one that sponsored me and then drive across Australia and then register my arrival, say, a week later? Also, do they ask for proof of funds when you register? Anyone had such an experience? Thanks!
Rupert
Yes you can do that. I would not expect that you will be asked to prove funds, they do that at the application stage, bit late asking now as you already have the visa.
Guest smithnigel18
Thanks, mate! I'm planning on driving from Sydney to Perth..want to feel the spirit of the land and catch a glimpse of the wild kangaroos hopping along the road..
RockDr
What do you mean by "register your arrival"? It is absolutely fine to arrive into an airport outside your state of sponsorship.
Rossmoyne
You can arrive at any airport and once you are through Passport Control, your visa is activated and you do not have to register anywhere.
Guest Pollo
You can arrive in whatever city you prefer but you should register when you settle in WA. http://www.migration.wa.gov.au/skilledmigration/Pages/Newlyarrivedskilledmigrants.aspx I didn't do it yet because :embarrassed: did not know until a couple of weeks ago. Before going there and waste time , be aware that their office is not always open to public. I don't remember now which days it was, sorry. BTW, Sydney to Perth is a long way, but it's a very good experience. We did it and our only regret is that we didn't have the time to see the Great Ocean Road (south of Victoria). Guest Pollo
I know what you mean, we are in the same situation. To be honest, this registration is not on the top of my priorities as well.
