Guest VolatileVortex
Hi All ...My question deals with the "recent work experience" component of state sponsorship options. I have 4 years of work experience for my developer programmer occupation 261312 but it has been 13 months since I resigned from this job and I am currently unemployed. I know that DIAC has done away with this requirement as a minimum eligibility criteria. However, what about NSW/SA/VIC state requirements for work experience? Can any recent applicants tell me if this requirement is still followed? As per their respective sites, VIC requires the person to be employed in the past 12 months and both SA and NSW sites say it has to be 12 months out of the past 24 months. Howeve,r I am not sure if this is pre-july 2012 info or if this is updated info. If this is the current situation, I do not qualify for sponsorship for these 3 states and that leaves me in trouble Since July 2012, have the states also done away with this requirement as a minimum eligibility criteria for state sponsorship or does it still apply? Any help would be awesome
lebourvellec
All states you have mentioned have updated their requirements. State Nomination requirements can be different to DIAC requirements - such as ask for certian amount of work exerience or higher IELTS results. For example NSW for your occupation requires 3 years recent work experience and IELTS of
Guest VolatileVortex
I meet the DIAC requirements as I have 4 years of experience in the past 10 years. I can claim 5 points for this as well from DIAC. My problem is that the past 13 months, I have been unemployed so if I want to pursue state sponsorship (which obviously will give me an extra 5 points), I do not fulfill the requirement of "12 months out of the past 24 months" (SA) or "work experience in the past 12 months" (VIC) and therein lies my dilemma

If there are these recent work experience requirements, then unfortunately you do not qualify. No dilemma about it.
lebourvellec
If you dont meet the criteria for SS you will likely not get it - you can always apply and find out?? If your occupation is on SOL 1 - you could sit/re-sit IELTS to get more points, so you could apply for 189.
Guest VolatileVortex
This is the answer given by VIC to my enquiry: "Thank you for your enquiry to the Victorian Government's Skilled and Business Migration Program. All applicants must meet the work experience requirements for your occupation. Check the State Nomination Occupation List for these requirements. In line with the Department if Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), you will now no longer need to meet the requirement of having worked in your nominated occupation within the last 12 months. " I have 4 plus years of paid experience post-qualification which is currently undergoing ACS assessment. The VIC occupation list requires only 3 years of w.e for 261312 so it looks like it is good news for me if ACS gives me a positive reply! Phew... HOWEVER, despite this confirmation by VIC, their own link still gives out contradictory info here http://www.liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au...a-subclass-190 where it says "You must have worked in paid employment in your nominated occupation within the past twelve months." Would the experts be able to tell me which version I should believe?
