I have a whv looking to come to Perth in oct, I'm looking to stay for good eventually, I was given the advice to get a whv to start with then look to get work when out there, I'm now not sure if this was the best one!

Can I change my visa and apply for another?

On a whv can I get a full time job and possibly get sponsored?

Can I ship stuff over on a whv?

Can I ship my car over on a whv?

Im so confused :-(

What other type of visa are you considering GSM?? What is your occupation

Yes - but you would need to get an employer to agree to sponsor you and need occupation on SOL or CSOL
Can I ship stuff over on a whv? & Can I ship my car over on a whv?
Unless you are definatly staying in Australia - it wouldnt be advisable.

I'd say a WHV is a good place to start to see if you like Aus, want to see a bit of it and so on.

As to if you may gain sponsorship, don't bank on it. If you are unskilled the chances of getting sponsored a not high. Depends on your trade/skills etc and if the employer can sponsor you. You can get a full time job but can only work 6 months for an employer. You can also do your 3 months regional work to enable you to gain your 2nd year WHV and I'd say this is a good thing to do to give you that extra time. All the info on a WHV can be found here

http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/417/

Have a good read of that to understand more of what a WHV is.

A WHV should be treated as just that. A holiday supplemented by work. Some use it to try to gain sponsorship to settle in Aus but don't bank on this happening.

I don't see the point of shipping a car over on a WHV and I am not sure you are able to do so tbh. I'd not bother shipping your belongings either (and I don't think you can do this anyways on a WHV I seem to recall reading). It kind of indicates you are not really there for the short term doesn't it ;) You are pretty much going with your luggage on the plane and perhaps a few boxes shipped over but not your house contents.

I'd say go out on the WHV and enjoy a year or two in Aus. And if you have skills someone wants or needs and they can sponsor you then great (but ensure you learn more about how that kind of sponsorship works as its tied to the job iirc). You never know, you may hate Aus and find its not for you or not want to settle there.

Hey

Thanks for replies, I dont make the criteria for a gsm, I have no skills, but have ran my own business's for the past 10 & 3years, both in totally different sectors, but with a business visa it seems as though you need a lot of money, and you can't start up a business on a whv either.

im gona come out and take it from there

thanks for input :)

If you have no skills or qualifications - there will be little chance that you will get sponsorship, as this is a criteria to be able to get sponsored.

As for business visas - you require assessets and set turnover in your current business.

Apart from doing the regional work to get a 2nd WHV, you may have very little options to beable to stay. Student visas may be your only option.
