Work Experience Document - Engineers Australia

Would anybody be able to share their experience or be able to provide some pointers in the right direction on how they demonstrated skilled employment with Engineers Australia (EA)?

I have 8 years engineering experience and an accredited degree under the Washington Accord and wish to claim these as part of my application process to hopefully achieve the 15 points available. However, when reading the 'Migration Skills Assessment' Document published by EA it is a little unclear what they expect for the work experience document? Is this just a CV and the Skilled Employment Record backed-up by the the employer references or something a little more meaty like a Career Episode as used within the CDR?

Any help with be greatly appreciated.

Its a simple CV, listing the places you've worked with relevant referee details. You may also have to send them certified copies of your P60 covering the years you're claiming for and and duty statements and job offer letters etc. which will help back up your claim.

I had to do the CDR route because my degree wasn't part of the accord so it may be slightly different. However, I guess the proof of employment requirements will be the same.

In the skilled employment record table, there's a field that says (documents, include 5 main duties, yes/no). What is That supposed to mean ? My work experience documentations include only my job title with no explained duties, abd should I circle a yes or no ? I really cant understand this field of the table.

Just a point to remember. You don't have to have EA judge your work experience as part of the skills assessment under the Washington Accord, as the final decision lies with DIAC who will do this when you submit your visa application. I also applied under the Washington Accord with only my degree and postgrad. They just wanted a recent CV in addition to the transcripts and certificates. I saved a couple of hundred $ by not having them assess my work experience.

We've just had our CO assigned and they look for payslips/P60s and references/duty statements to prove work experience. I've had to go a bit further as I didn't have my payslips/P60 all the way back and provide bank statements and my tax records in addition to the references/duty statements.

So I should apply for the visa at the moment, and wait until they ask me for a proof my experience ? What I heard is that I have to assess my experience throughout EA so I can claim my experience points! On the othe hand, as I have my letters of experience already they are gonna be much easier to provide instead of the pay slips, additionally my letters say that I have worked full time so I think they are gonna be enough. Right?

Sorry I should have been more clear with my response. You need to get your Skills Assessment carried out before you submit your EOI. However the skills assessment (Engineers Australia version anyway) under the Washington Accord (for accredited degrees) you don't need to prove your work experience. All you need to do is to submit your degree and transcripts (certified copies) alongside a CV, a passport cert copy and some passport photos. EA offer a service to give an opinion on work experience but it's not really worth anything, ultimately DIAC will make the call on your claimed work experience.

However if you don't have a degree that is accredited under the Washington Accord, the skills assessment will need to be a CDR (competency demostration report). In this case you will need to write a substantial amount about each position you have worked in over the years you are claiming. Also note that skills assessment will take much longer to process if you have to provide a CDR.

Oh, and on the proof of work experience thing (when you do get your visa application in), you will need the letters of experience (references/duty statements they're often referred to as) from each employer over the duration that you're claiming. You WILL also need payslips and/or P60s over the same period. If you don't have these then you should request a Tax statement from HMRC (assuming you're in the UK) and supply bank statements over the period.

The way it's all been explained to me is: It's no one piece of evidence that will prove it for you, but an overall picture. I've tried to evidence everything on my visa application with two or more pieces of evidence. So for example in my work experience claim, for each year I've worked I've provided one payslip and P60/employer plus a reference from each employer. For the further back years 2006/2007 I don't have payslips or P60s so I've uploaded my tax statement from that year plus my bank statement showing my salary being paid over a couple of months in that period.

Hope that helps and doesn't confuse matters.

Well, thank u for your response. The thing is that I have done my CDR already and it got approved, the issue is just regarding the work experience, which I understand fron what you have mentioned is I don not have to do nothing to claim for the points, just apply for EOI and when I get the visa invitation I should just provide the documents you have mentioned above with no need to assess my experience through EA. I think that what you meant, isn't it?

Yep that's exactly it, if you've got your IELTS and your approved Skills Assessment, then fire away, fill out the EOI and wait for the invite

If EA are requesting specifically that you do prove work experience to them, then you should; but I don't see why they would as they can't make judgement on it for claiming points; they can only advise.

Thank you soooooooo much for this. I was starting to panic as I'm looking to lodge my EOI on 16th August when I receive my IELTS results and I thought I might have to get EA to assess my employment and they are now reporting nearly 4 weeks leadtime for this to be done.
