shashinianuttara
Hi All, I have an issue which is bothering me to the death. I have applied my 176 visa and got a CO allocated as well. I am asked to get a police Clearance done in Australia to cover the period that I was living there which is 6 years. During this time I never had any problem except towards the end of the period, I had a train ticket fine for not having a ticket while travelling in the train. (i in fact had lost all my documents and didnt realise it) so since i was leaving i gave money to a friend of mine. after couple of months i was told by my land lord that there was a letter asking me to pay for the fine. I realised that my friend had not made the payment. Anyway now I am very much worried about this whole things and dont know if this will come up in the AFP check which will cause to get my visa rejected. I in fact wanted to pay the fine so about a year a go checked this with SDRO giving my name, date of birth and passport number but they said they cannot find any records against my name. So in this case should i worry? will this have any effect on my PCC? Please help....thanks. This actually happened about 11 years a go (in 2001) and if i was sent a letter, can SDRO say that they do not have records with them? cannot this be a mistake? Guest The Ropey HOFF
Have you any written proof you contacted them? If not how did you contact them? If you haven't got proof, Write to them again by recorded mail delivery keeping a copy saying you gave the money to a friend to pay it, but you are just checking if they did and if they didn't offer to pay again. At least you will then be able to produce written proof that you have done everything pissible to sort this problem out. Best of luck.
shashinianuttara
Thanks, Yes I got an email from them saying as per the information i have given, like my name, date if birth and Passport number, there are no outstanding penalties or enforcement orders against me. Then your worrying for nothing, this will show you are in the clear, or at least show you tried to resolve it, if its mentioned print the email off and produce it, but I don't think they will mention it and I don't think you have anything to worry about.
