Guest shaunaforoz
Hi, I just had lunch in one of my favourite places and as I was sitting eating the couple at the table beside me ordered dessert. It was ordered from one waitress (quite a young girl) but it was a more mature lady who took it out. The man turned around and as the lady walked away shouted at the top of his voice...what is wrong with you, this was supposed to come with ice cream, not fresh cream....any chance of you doing your job right?? I swear to God it took all I had not to slap him! What is wrong with some people, are they just rude, or stupid!

Guest graciegrace2280
hmm I've had the same experience, only I was the waitress. Probably the most humiliating moment in my life, this lady was so angered i forgot to serve her food, which I guess is the whole purpose of being a waitress, I admit I was terrible a terrible waitress. I was fired the same day- that was after I told her to shove the meal up her arse

Fisher1
Rude, stupid, illusions of grandeur. My husband used to work in an expat English shop near the main EU building in Brussels. One day he made a mistake on the till (alone, queue of people etc etc) and the woman he was serving sighed mightily and said 'How hard can it be to operate a till?' Big mistake. My husband sighed mightily right back, and said 'I'm very sorry, but I have a very low IQ and am doing my best' Since he was nothing of the kind and most of the people in the queue were on first name terms with him, everyone except the SB in question burst out laughing. Apparently she couldnt get out of the shop quick enough and thankfully never came back. Some people just weren't brought up properly.

Alaska
I remember on my first ever day in my first ever job on a till in a store. I was being trained on the till. One customer said to me "You're so slow, you'd never get a job in London!" Stupidly it really knocked my confidence. People don't really think. Guest littlesarah
I had a patient who was a former air hostess for a major airline. She told me that she mostly worked in First Class, which she loved, but sometimes she would be asked to cover business class if they were short of appropriately-trained staff. She said sometimes she'd asked to swap into economy, because the people in business class were often so rude. I was a bit surprised, until she pointed out that "people in first-class were mostly the ones who have so much money they don't have a superiority complex, and people in economy were mostly grateful for anything extra they got, while business class passengers were mostly being paid to go on a trip during which they would be required to demonstrate how marvellous they and/or their company were". I reckon that a lot of folk have deep insecurities and make themselves feel better by being impatient and rude with people they think have a 'lower' job than they do. It's completely pathetic and unnecessary. When it comes to food service, it's also a way of setting yourself up for a side order of saliva! One customer said to me "You're so slow, you'd never get a job in London!" Stupidly it really knocked my confidence. People don't really think. A patient once took a long time to tell me how much better the service was in London, so I politely pointed out that I had no desire to work in London, and that as far as I was aware the service in question was still running, if she wanted to return there. Probably a bit out of order of me, really, but I used to get really annoyed with people who retired to the country, and then complained the whole time that it was all rubbish compared to London. Never occurred to them that our department was clogged up with people who'd retired from South-East and were demanding treatment all the time! BritChickx
Clearly the man ordering has never made a mistake in his life and doesn't work in customer service, lol well so he thinks anyway. Poor woman! When I worked in a shop and gave someone their change back they came back in saying i'd given them the wrong change and I was so embarassed even though I knew i had given the right change, I was trying to explain the maths to her lol in the end i had to get my manager cos she just wouldn't drop it! This was the same shop in which someone had given me a love letter, well not sure what letter it was but it was weird!

Eera
It always made me laught when people said "the customer is always right." Not in my experience. I was a checkout girl in Halfords, once a very minor B list celebrity pushed to the front of the queue, won't say who except she was part of a Eurovision group in the 80s and then did some kids' shows. When I asked her to get to the back she did the whole "Don't you know who I am?" thing. I told her I didn't care who she was and she stormed out in a huff. When I was doing university admin I used to get the job or robing up the people we were giving honorary degrees to. I got to measure Matthew Pinsent (6'5", chest not too much smaller) and hold Terry Pratchett's hat, and they were both lovely men. Much more so than the students who seemed to think that because I was behind a desk I was inferior. Yeah, except I'm doing this job while I finish a PhD thank you. And I've NEVER been rude to a telesales person after having to do that for a few weeks.

landr
Where I work our waitresses are all responsible for taking money and keeping it in a bumbag. On one occasion our duty manager picked up some money from a table and said she would just get some change from the waitress. The change was then placed back out on the table by the waitress to which the customer said she paid with a £20 note not £10. The waitress politely said no it was a £10 note. Customer is really not happy, so the waitress goes to consult our duty manager who originally picked up the bill and confirms it was indeed a £10 note. Duty manager then returns to customer and assures her she paid with a £10 note and that it had passed through 2 of our staff members who would both not have made the same mistake. Customer is adamant to the point where duty manager gives up and goes and gets extra change from the till. Duty manager gives it to customer who then tears it up and throws it on the floor saying awful customer service and she doesn't want it anyway! aarrgghhh
