cki2011
Hello Bob We was hoping to go to Perth before November this year but realise it may be too soon to sort Milo our 3 year old Bichon frise so if that is not possible we are looking at moving to Perth sometime between Jan-March 2013. Can you tell me what injections he will need and any other test etc to prepare him for then so we can get him through quarantine the fastest possible way and with as little fuss as possible as he has epilepsy. When we last emailed you some months ago he was in bad shape but he has had MRI scans and been on treatment to determine dosages etc and now he is on medication and we have him under comtrol and he hasnt had a fit for months now so fingers crossed it has settled down. We have kept lepto out of his booster this time so it is about 16 months since he had one with it in. Can you also give us an estimate for shipping him including everything he will need so we can budget for this. Kind regards Dave & Carmel
Petals
Giving this thread a bump for you. Hope they pop along and give you an answer soon. I have a soft spot for Bichon, my late Daisy dog was one.
Cal2
Try Bob's company PetAir direct, you're not committing to anything, although we used them and would recommend them Cal
BobPetairUK
Dear Dave and Carmel I thought i had replied to this already, i am really sorry. i recognise the pics of the fluffy pooch in a jumper:) Magic news that he is on the mend. Epilepsy can be a really tough one to control, but the pets do well generally. We definitely ought to chat about medication for the flights as he may miss a dose which upset the apple cart sometime. Basically go to the vets soon, get them to give him a rabies vaccination and then 3-4 weeks after they need to do a rabies blood sample. 5 months after that your dog can fly (in order to do the minimum 30 day quarantine) He can go sooner, but he would have to serve more time in quarantine. Cost wise - i think you will need to budget around £2500-£3000 for everything - quarantine, flights, crate, permit, vet work etc, but if you want a formal quote from us for UK bits and pieces then email me. I would love to speak to you about the medication and what your dog is on and how controlled he is. We have flown some epilpeptic pets to Australia fine. Feel free to give us a call if you fancy it. BobPetairUK
Dear Dave and Carmel Magic, but if you need to be there by Feb 2013, then you need to go and get the rabies work started - at least get the rabies vaccination done now so that is started and the wheels are set into motion. Bob Hello Bob I think we spoke too soon.... Unfortunately Milo had two fits on Monday and he has had two more tonight so i think it is back to the drawing board and we will have to monitor him again to get him under control.... We are absolutely gutted as we thought we had got him over the worst and he had settled on the medication....At this moment in time i dont think we can consider taking him so we will have to go in January for a validation trip and once he is under control make the move ....
