I originaly applied for Special CLass but got assigned Geneeral after Skype interview with Vic Uni.

I started my application around march time last year and got it in August.

Btw if your going with Vic Uni, the rules have changed check out energy safe vic site for details.

Energysafe have really muddied the waters now.

Thanks Justin, I hope you don't mind me asking but why did they change to Electrician General? My thinking was General is if you do domestic work and Special Class if Industrial? Do you know if that's correct or am I totally wrong? It's my husband applying but me doing all the paperwork

Hi

No I have had experience in all fields. But contracting is mainly what Ive done.

At the moment I specialise in SELV systems for hospitals, but the whole assesment was based upon all the syliabus for electricians in AU.

They basicly asked me questions and provide examples of different situations in the interview. Every thing from Ohms law to power facor correct and cable selection.

Talked a lot about health and saftey.

But had to provide references from previous employers of work I had done in the past (ie Job descriptions and references).

IMHO if I was you Id apply for General as that equals Electrical Mechanic and Special Class equals Electrical Fitter. But I stand corrected if I'm wrong.

If you want any more info just ask.
