Guest Guest63690
Hi folks, I was snuggled up with my daughter watching the film Antz yesterday. For those that have not seen this great kids film, an ant called Z (voice by Woody Allan), who is the main character, feels really discontented with his life in the colony. He feels insignificant and longs to be recognized as an individual. At the bar one night, drinking Aphid sap, he over hears a drunk Ant rambling about somewhere called Insectopia, a paradise for insects. A few chaotic situations later, Z finds himself heading off to search for this mythical Insectopia, with princess Bala in toe, who he has inadvertently kidnapped. He finds it, but it does not turn out to be paradise. Any way, after lots of dramas, Z ends up back at the colony. At the end of the film he says, but this time its different, because this time I chose it. And this film got me wondering, is this how people feel after they come home from oz, after trying out life down under. Do they feel more content in the UK after having their adventure, because instead of just being born here, and it being the only country they have ever known, they are actually choosing the UK as their home? Do they appreciate it more? Maybe some returners would put an end to my strange ponderings?
