Limited to toiletries in your luggage?

Hi! I've heard a few different variations to how much you can take toiletries-wise in your plane luggage? The thing is we have quite a bit having stocked up and have been told we can't ship it so was going to take it with us on the plane.

Have you taken lots and had any problems with customs?

Thanks!

You can ship toiletries by sea in with your house contents just fine. You cannot ship aerosols like deodorant spray and so on. But shampoos, creams and so on should be fine. I'd certainly not bother taking up room in your luggage when flying.

And you can buy toiletries in Aus, they are a first world country ;) Sure the odd thing might not be found but most of the leading brands are sold there under one name or another.

I agree with Snifter. I'm shipping things like shower gel, shampoo, body creams etc as I have stocked up. Going to take my expensive face creams in my main luggage just incase they are affected by high temperatures. I haven't heard of any restrictions in the main luggage though.

You can't beat offer prices on colgate toothpaste in Tesco though! We have stocked up on prescription creams for my son, though each is 500g and we have about 6 of them! Also baby shampoo, now correct me if I'm wrong, but how expensive is baby shampoo in oz!?!

Dont know where you are looking but you can get a big pump bottle of Johnsons Baby Shampoo and baby bath for $10 out of Big W, lasts for ages, so not really expensive.

I didn't pay much attention to toiletries the couple times I have visited Australia as I took what I needed for the trips, however, on our second trip we had a toddler and needed to buy extra wipes and nappies whilst there and they were so expensive. But it's all relative....Australians , in general, pound-for-pound (so to speak), earn more so you can't really do a general currency conversion as it doesn't often equate. I'd also stock up though as you can get excellent offers here, and every bit of expense you can save on spending out on once you get there the better.
