sh3p69
Hi there Guys, just waiting to go to work (dont you just love shift work) and was just thinking about our WA state sponsorship... Well we have applied for a 176 visa with a WASS and was wondering if it cost the Western Australia to sponsor us and if they have to pay anything else, So what actually is a State Sponsorship is it just a "Yes, we will have you" or a guarantee to the government that they will pay some kind of cost that we might make... Been looking on the old tinternet but cant find anything... So if Anybody can shine a little light on it for me and if it does cost, how much is it...:animal-sheep: Thanks... Dave... Chardy
Good question, I'm not sure if it costs WA anything and the end of the day they said yes I can come in so that's good enough for me ! The only other thing I can think of is that as a 176 is a PR visa you are eligible for some benefits so maybe WA have to factor that in should you claim them ?? Que Sera Sera
My understanding is that WA has basically told the Federal Government that it need x amount of workers, for x amount of jobs. The federal Government then allows a part of their Immigration numbers to include the WA Governments wishes. I dont think it costs WA anything, as its not a legal requirement that you fulfil the 2 years just a moral one. Now someone may come on who knows more to help. thombatt
WA will hav to pay education, policing, first time home owners and health costs (among others) out of their state budget. Hopefully you will contribute GST and other stat taxes to the state coffers. Hopefully you will also contribute to overall taxes, including th company you work for. There is also th multiplier effect, you will, by buying goods and srvices in WA get someone else to also contribute.
walvia
I don't think WA pays for sponsoring on the short term, whatever income they get from sponsoring you is on the long term with multiplier effects like someone has pointed out. They do generate money from sponsoring people via the $200 sponsorship fee though.

How much they help depends on which stat you are in. I've given the link for WA as that sems to be the state you are interested in.
