Guest MUMOF4
Hi, i am a 44 year old Public Health Specialist Nurse / Health Visitor married to a 42 year old electrician with 4 kids. We have decided after years of consideration to apply to emigrate to WA. I have contacted a number of agents. One agent has got back to me saying a 489 visa may be the best way to go. Any thoughts anyone?
lebourvellec
Currently - if you are the main applicant, you would be eligible for 190 or 189 (would need 20 points for IELTS) - but as soon as you turn 45 you would lose 15 points - then 489 would be an option - (or you could still go for 190, if your OH got a positive skills assessment - and got partner Points.) If your OH is main applicant, you could go down the 190 route, as him as the main applicant. But Your skills assessment may be easier to get, that could be why he is suggesting the 489. The 489 is only a provisional visa - and you need to live in Regional Australia for 2 years - work full-time for 1 year before you would be eligible for PR. Rupert
My thoughts would be to just make sure you cannot get the 189 or 190 (the permanent visa) first. If you definitely can't then sure why not go for the provisional one.
