kev and iza
Hi all, We have had our visa granted and had the good fortune to validat in September 2011. After the arrival of our beautiful daughter in may 2012 we now require her to have a visa i guess!! As we are now currently living in Dubai and do not intend to permanently move to Aus until the last possible date: 2016, how do we go about adding our daughter to the visa? Do we wait and enter her on visit visa or do we apply now to have addition to existing visa? Thank you in advance for your help, much appreciated and I hope all reading that is currently waiting for their visa see the light at the end of tunnel so to speak- we waited 3/4 years for ours ;-)
lebourvellec
You cant add her on to your visa. You need to apply for a Child Visa 101 - Offshore, cost $2060 (or onshore $3060) If you are not planning to move for a few years - you might as well wait - as the baby will need medicals and both parents will require new police checks, which are usually asked for soon after visa is lodged - there is about 5-7 month processing time for Offshore Child 101 visas, and it needs to be validated by entering Australia 12 months from date of medicals or PCC, therefore you wont have long to validate and will be another trip to Australia. kev and iza
Thanks for the info, although i do not understand why parents require police checks? We have our visa for permanent res in place and validated for family of 4; surely it is just a case of addition to the family of 1 new arrival?? We will be traveling back and forth to Aus on yearly bases and with having all family on visa apart from new arrival will result in visit visa if we delay in applying. Having 12 months to validate from the visa approval is a bonus also as it gives u excuse to travel again ;-)
lebourvellec
Your visa has been granted - you can not add another person to the application - therefore the only option is Child 101 (or 802 onshore). http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/child/101/ Re: Police Checks. "Where an applicant is under 18 years of age, the sponsorship cannot be approved (except in very limited circumstances) where the sponsor or the sponsor's spouse or de facto partner (if they have one) has a conviction or an outstanding charge for an offence against a child. The applicant will also need to satisfy the requirement that there is no compelling reason to believe that the grant of the visa would not be in the best interests of the applicant." http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/child/101/eligibility-sponsor.htm As I said you will not have 12 months from time of visa grant - you will only have 7-5 months to validate as Medicals and Police Checks are requested when application is lodged (you have 12 months from earilest date of medicals or Police Checks to validate) - then you need to wait for the visa to be granted which will take 5-7 months. You went on one visa application but now you all have your own separate visas and that application is closed so you need to apply for a child visa for the new arrival. If you plan to be visiting Australia regularly then apply for it anytime you like, the visa will need to be validated in the same way as yours were.
