Candygirl
Oooh that's cold. It can get to -5 here in sunny Spain believe it or not in the winter. When we feel a nip in the air, we have the gas fire on. Have fluffly fleecy blankets from Primani on with a hot water bottle underneath. We normally have a dog each at the side of us on the couch and have think socks, slippers and PJ's and fur dressing gown with hood on as well. When I go to bed it all comes off as I love a cold pillow and bed.

Bob1
ha ha double glazing, ha ha insulation ha ha ha central heating ha ha ha. errrr none! Electric blanket before I go to bed, wood bringing stove heats the house, jump out of bed and put on a fleecy and ugg boots - don't remove them until I have to! I remember the days in the UK when there was frost patterns on the inside of the windows - don't get that here. Overheard on the bus in Perth a couple of years ago - "it was so cold last night it went to minus zero".

ali
How well are Perth homes prepared for the winter in terms of double glazing, insulation and heating? We;ve changed all our windows - thicker glass (not quite double glazing but much better than what we had), changed the heating to zoned reverse cycle - with the new windows not having to put it on as much as in the first few years. Guest tandcmum
ouch, thats freezing, it got down to about 10 degrees here hte other week and I was frozen, talk about quick aclimatisation, i honestly cannot imagine how cold our house would be if it was that cold. Mind you it was 30 degrees the other day and the house was lovely and cool with a lovely breeze going through it, can't have it both ways i guess
Paul1Perth
It's cold when we first get up but a quick shave and hot shower, throw the clothes on and we're OK. Use a pretty standard quilt with maybe an extra blanket if it's really cold, like last night. We are all usually heading off to work or school so don't bother with heating in the morning. Never used an electric blanket or hot water bottle. Never been THAT cold. Had reverse cycle aircon a couple of years ago after resisting for years. It's been great. Typical open plan house too, big areas to heat up. We have loft insulation that's probably ready for an upgrade but that helps.

Perthbum
So hot and humid here fiona with a week of cloudless blue skies....anyway....keep warm by (For females) Go through menopause early. Use hot flashes to your advantage.
Perthbum
Use a can of baked beanz and and old sleeping bag. Consume beanz and climb into sleeping bag. Use the resulting foull gas as a modern “space heater” of sorts, farting your way to warmth is the cheapest form of heating known to man.
