Guest padrebackspin Posted July 15, 2012 Hi,I wonder if anyone can help? I am a UK electrician but am hoping to work in WA as an Intruder/Fire Alarm engineer, either maintenance or service until I obtain my A Grade License. Many jobs advertising for engineers at present are asking for candidates to have a 'structural cabling license'. Is this necessary for this role and if so, can anyone help with how I can obtain one of these and how difficult it is? Any help much appreciated.
benandkelly 10 Posted October 4, 2012 Hi, sorry i haven't replied sooner. Most companies will not employ you unless you have the AMCA cablers license. You also need a security license Job offer 29-07-11. e457 lodged 06-09-11. e457 proccessing 06-09-11 Employer Approved as a sponsor 09-09-11. I have researched a security license and understand how to obtain one of those. Is there anything I can do here from the UK to speed things up? Is it worth buying the Australian regs to give me a head start? Any thoughts would be a great help. Russ
