However, have noticed that as well as stating we have a subclass 136 visa they also say conditions mig, reg. sched 8 on the top. SOmeone please quell my panic and telll me this isn't something horrible!:notworthy:

Hi Hazel & Dave

Stop panicking! All visas come with Schedule 8 conditions!

My mother was 85 by the time she travelled to Oz onher new Contributory Parent visa in Octiber 2006. She had been widowed in 1991 after 40 years of marriage to Dad they were together for a good ten years before they got married, during the war etc.

The Grant Letter usually spells out the Condition Numbers and says what they mean.

There was one on Mum's (Condition 8015, I think) which solemnly said, "Visa holder must not marry before entering Australia." I fell about! Was she about to go and kidnap an old boy of 90 from the local old folks' home or something and then try to smuggle him into Australia or what?!!! Another was aimed at preventing her from being involved in regular childcare/classroom activities (ie non-family children) because her Meds had not included the extra tests if someone is going to work in a creche, school, hospital or suchlike.

It was all totally OTT in the context, given Mum's age, but who cares? It is completely irrelevant to her enjpyment of her new lifestyle and status in Oz anyway.

You will find - for sure - that itis the same for you too, chooks.

Cheers

Gill
