Guest kdal Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Hi, Yes I was only saying the same thing to my husband last night. At the moment I just have a one track mind (and not the one he was hoping for lol). It's hard to think of anything else, but your right we got to make the most of this Christmas Merry Christmas to you too
ali Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 We were lucky in that our visa was granted last july and we hadn't planned to move until Jan 07 - our last xmas in the UK was the best ever and not sad at all, we spent time with family and friends making lots of memories and it was excelent. Now looking forward to our first sunny xmas - forcast for 38 degrees on xmas day Ali

Guest mandy1 Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Hi We are planning to go to Perth early in the New Year (early feb) and Christmas has been a bit hard to get into to be honest. As we are moving its been hard to think of what to get my 2 kids for presents as we will have to take their gifts with us. So things like bikes &larger gifts are out as it will cost lots to transport them out. Also as we are in the middle of selling up I just feel unsettled. We are trying to get into the swing of it though as we know it will be our last Christmas here and it'll be nice to spend time with family and friends.I just don't like this being in limbo feeling! Mandy x
Guest haysgood Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Hi Sharon, I know exactly what you mean. We started the application process in May when we applied for our skills assessment. Since then, it really feels like our life has been put on hold. We are trying to save as much as we can, so cant really afford to do much else. We don't really want to buy anything either, because whatever we buy we will have to ship, and we would like to keep the shipping to a minimum. There are so many things I would like to get that I would ordinarily buy, but there is no point buying anything at this stage. Even silly things like DVDs I even think twice about buying! Its almost an obsession!:chatterbox: We will probably only get our visa mid next year (we are stuck in the backlog!) so for the next few months still we will be living in limbo. I cant wait to get to Oz and go on a massive shopping spree. I don't think my husband quite knows what he is in for :twitcy:! Hayley
Jackboots Posted December 23, 2007 Author Posted December 23, 2007 you know im really glad its not just me, my husband is so impressed that ive given up spending to. hmmmmm... is he in for a shock the other end, but your right i was going for dvd's for xmas for him and said whats the point, so were just doing cheap for grace our daughter, same go's to expensive to take, and were saving every penny to go.(ANDPAY FOR AGENTS ECT) so its back to the lod fashoined xmas one good pressie and make it count, the dog is great he just scoffs his! were aiming for kalamunda in perth, and waiting for our go ahead for meds stearted the ball rolling in may, wished we had kept a timeline like most have on this site. merry xmas to all, hopefully the last cold one !
Guest mandy1 Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Hi all Hope you all had a good Christmas! We received lots of wine and chocs this year as we'd told the rellies that it was no good getting us anything too big or bulky. The kids still got loads of things but they were small and portable (dvd's, games etc..) and they also got money too. We had a lovely Christmas day actually and it was a bit emotional thinking that it would probably be the last one where we'd be with the family for a few years and where it'd be cold! I'm just hoping now that things start to move quickly in the New Year and we can be off to Oz. Mandy x
