Guest Woody Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Hi Anybody got any pros/cons with these 2 companies? Quotes around the same- trying to decide which before Xmas Cheers Paul
calNgary Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Hiya put anglo pathetic in the search bar at the top and your question will be answered!!!lol,,unfortunately anglo pacific dont carry a great reputation for many different reasons. We used crown who arent the cheapest but still seem to come out on top,i think its partly due to that fact that its Crown here too and no sub contractors are used,, Cal x
ali Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 We used John mason who were great. Heard a few inconsistent things about Anglo Ali
Guest brucestobrisbane Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Hi, we used pickfords in UK to come out here, and they were brill. We are also using them to send the stuff back home again!!! and i can't praise them enough over here either. They have taken the delivery charge for getting here off the bill for sending it home, and have just turned it round at the docks for us. I would recommend them without any qualms. Good luck with the move. Nicky
Guest Karenina Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Hi We used AP to ship our effects to Brisbane - they were good. However the handling agents MIM are not ! Customer Service is seriously lacking and communicating with the customer is something they really need to get a grip with - if you go with AP , check who the handling agent is and make it very clear that you don't want any hassle on the arrival end. We did have a quote from Pickfords - more expensive. The reason we used AP is that we were recommended them by our Migration Agent in Australia Good luck
Guest The Greens Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Honestly can't say on these 2, but have read a few posts unfavourable against Anglo Pacific. What about CROWN,? Honestly would suggest you get them round for a free quote and just to see how professional they are. They are superb. Nothing to lose by talking to them. EMMY:)
Guest scurle Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 You might want to check who they use when it arrived in Australia. Our company used Grace here in Australia and our experience was less than pleasant. We used Dorree Bonner in the UK and can recommend them, but not if they still use Grace You might also consider that if you are planning to insure your pocessions, that they may be worth a lot more here in Australia - and you may find yourself under insured if you are not careful and are unlucky to need to make a claim. In our case, even though someone was clearly at fault, both Dorree and Grace washed their hands of it and left it to the insurers.....:realmad:
Guest cheryl Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Wouldn't employ pickfords to move my dolls house, un-provisional, un-corporative given the choice I would use laurel & Hardy given the choice I would use chuckle brothers. on a serious note leave well alone. any questions e-mail me.
Guest Woody Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Too late Cheryl, already booked Pickfords! Thanks for that! It'll be fine, there are bound to be isolated incidents with all companies.Sorry you were one of them. That's the only bad comment i've heard about Pickfords. AP were certainly out of the running after what i heard on here. We did have Crown round for a quote but didn't like the rep.Far too pushy and nowhere near as nice as the guy from Pickfords. We had a letter from pickfords in Sydney within a few days of seeing the rep so that was reassuring. Paul
Guest Gollywobbler Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Hi Paul I've seen a thread about a delivery by Pickfords reaching Oz with several breakages of valuable items. In fairness, such breakages are usually caused because the family concerned has actually not got enough kit to enable the shippers to pack the boxes tightly enough or to pack the container tightly enough with the boxes to prevent any sort of movement inside the boxes or within the container, but The Experts (the family) insist on exclusive use of a container that is actually too big for the job. Cheers Gill
steve/helen Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Hi Paul we used pickfords in the uk they were great no problems at all ,we are now in oz and we are waiting for it to arrive so i cant comment on what its like at this end.Helen
Guest dwaldron Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Everyone raves about Crown, and I'm one of them. You are about to undertake one of the one disruptive moves in your life and the smoother and easier you make it, the quicker you'll be settled and the higher the chance that everything will work out OK for you. If you consider the cost of moving I really do think that you are better off just paying that little extra and having the piece of mind. Having said that Crown were actually CHEAPER for us because they bothered to come around and measure everything and do a proper quote so we shared a container with someone else and saved £500. Think less about the money and more about making everything as easy as possible. Happy moving.

You have to go with who YOU feel most confident with. i know what ya mean about being pushy and I don't like that. I put Crown clear on a few things they were pushing, but I must say most of what they said made sense. But still Good luck with your move, Hope all goes well. EMMY:spinny:
