Guest Tom the Pom Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 According to my trusty Oz - English translation book (honest!!!). An 'Ocker' is an uncultivated Australian male. There are loads of laughable words the Ozzies use!!!

Guest fatpom Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Depends where you live as to the meaning. Generally a bogan or an oker is a blue collar working class person (bloke usually). Recently because construction workers have been earning good dollars there's a new class called a "cashed up bogan" particularly despised by the suits (office worker). In Sydney the term "westie" is more commonly used (someone from the western suburbs as opposed to the affluent eastern suburbs). Makes me laugh when you hear aussies talking about how they live in a truly class free society and then in the next they're bagging bogans, hoons, okers or westies. Nevertheless it is better than the UK in this respect (and many others).
Guest maxxangel Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Can't afford to be a chav! :cry:Jo x Oh Jo, you have my sympathies; I can't afford all that Bling either...
