Sending Medicals by Courier or Royal Mail Signed For?

Hi

We are due to have our medicals on the 4th Jan. When I spoke to the receptionist at the surgery she explained that they send the Medicals/Xray results to Oz via Royal Mail International Signed For.

I've read on PIO that many people seem to send medicals by Courier. Do you arrange courier service yourself and take the medical/xray results away with you or does the surgery sort courier out if you request and pay for it?:err:

Thanks for any help

Hi

Our doc phoned us when meds were complete - blood tests in etc - and I organised a UPS pick up from the docs surgery. It was all done over the phone (payment included) and was all rather civilised! Would recommend UPS rather than Royal MAil as our doc said that he had had a couple of cases of meds going missing and the poor old applicants having to start again. Not good, or cheap! Best of luck.

Our panel doc also prefers the courier service due to previous lost meds withRoyal Mail.

The Royal Mail seems a bit more complex as well when it comes to tracking its progress all we did was go into company website and it told us when and what time it arrived and who signed for it.

If I had a choice it would be courier every time a think its a bit more expensive, ours worked out at £10 a head, but it was worth it for the peace of mind.

Hi, Our meds were finally posted of on the 12/12/07 (the doc went on holiday for a week, although did advise us of this before we had our meds) by Royal Mail (sign for), you can still track your post and it tells you that International will take 5 working days to be delivered. Just make sure you get your tracking number for your Doc before your leave his surgeory. Once left England it can then be tracked on the Auspost website.

Ours should arrive around the 20th December. If I remember I will check and then update your thread letting you know if all delivered ok.

We still paid £15.00 for the service but that was for them all to be posted.

Good luck with the Meds

Regards

Our panel Doctor sent them - we paid £15

..

Same as us, the panel docs charge you and send Royal Mail (signed for)unless you ask otherwise.

dont send via royal mail. ive done it once and they were pathetic.

they cannot tell you if your parcel has arrived. all they tell you is it has left the uk and it

is in ausposts hands.

i really would not recommend it from my previous experiences.

send it via courier. it costs more but worth the piece of mind.

I totally agree with this. the panel doctor in poole sent my meds via courier and they have had no problems with that. i did send my visa app' with royal mail and all they could tell me was that it was out of the UK and in aussie hands - useless! until this morning when they contacted me (he couldn't read my postcode - not a great start!)

Hi SuenAdam

Our meds were received at LCU on the 13th of December Hubbys and youngest child (Sam) finalised by 17th December but mine and eldest child (Josh) still waiting, think this is because we had to provide some extra info about medical conditions and need to be looked at closer. Did you apply on line if so can track progress using trn number, also couriers should be able to give you a number so that you can track documents until they get delivered. We lodged our 457 on 9th November so will be 6 weeks on Friday but its xmas and immi will be taking holidays so could delay it a little. Take care, good luck and merry xmas

Oh Dear ours have gone Royal Mail Signed for, now you all got me worried :swoon:

With Christmas and all there is bound to be a delay anyway so now it's another wait to make sure that Royal Mail delivered my paperwork. Looked on the tracking and it just tells me thats its left for Oz!!!

I just got to have faith , come on Royal Mail and AusPost you know you can do it !!:notworthy:
