Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has done their practical assessment for VETASSESS. My OH is a Joiner and will be hopefully doing his practical in February. We would be grateful for any feedback from anyone who has completed theirs or anyone who knows what might be awaiting him.

Thanks

Hi, my husband is a joiner also and he is doing his practical in April, so I take it your hubby will also be doing the April one? I am really just sending this to say hi as have just joined the forum and trying to get some answers if possible also, so by now you have probably got as much info as us about this, which is pretty much none!!! All we have been told is the time, date and venue and that they will give us more information this month. We keep calling our agents to see if have heard anything, but always nothing, so just have to wait, hopefully will find out before we make the 300mile journey!!!!!

Good luck to you with everything, and hope things are working out well for you.

Thanks.

Hi Andi,

We are also waiting to hear from our agent, but if you go onto the link below and download the Candidate Guide it gives you a detailed outline of the Practical and what the day will consist of. What date are you going? My husband is going on the 9th. Poor you having to travel 300 miles, luckily we live less than an hour away from Accrington.

I hope you find the link useful.

hi

my husband is also a joiner and doing his test on the 11th april. what is bugging us though, is when we first started the paper work they said that every thing will be supplied (all your tools). however when we get the confirmation it lists out every thing you need to take with you which said take you tool kit,(hand tools and power tools) do they know how many tools a joiner has, could they not just state what you need to take.

other then that it has been a easy ride. we are doing it ourselves no agency (not paying those prices) and it seems easy. if my sister can do it so can we.

good luck in all your test

Thanks for the info Cathy, we had looked on the site also to see if we could find anything out, not that impressed by the lack of information at the moment. My husbands test is at 7.30am on Mon 7th. Thanks Debs for mentioning the tools, as finding out we have to now probably take tools also is not helping matters, as we were also informed all would be supplied, and we only have a tiny car, so no way will we get 4 of us, clothes and now tools in it, as we are all just going for short break to share driving, so on top of the expense of this we will now have to hire a bigger car:arghh:, great more money, I knew it was not going to be cheap but these are expenses we were not expecting to come across, especially when they had said a test centre would be in Glasgow!!!!! Oh well, hopefully things will start going our way now, fingers crossed for everyone doing the tests in April and good luck.

Thanks again to you both, was really glad to get a response.

Hi Cathy, my apologies, I thought I had looked at the link you gave me, but when I looked again later I noticed I had not gone into the right bit, so that info is great, thanks, now know alot more than we did, hubby feels a bit calmer about the maybe tasks involved, as was not sure our agent had put him through the right one, as classification is bit strange, here is a joiner, but over there not sure as classed as carpenter or joiner, but agents said that is what vetassess classed him as from his paper bassed assessment, so things a bit clearer now, thanks alot, great help, just printing it all of just now. Good luck to your hubby for the 9th.

Thanks again.

Good luck to everyone doing their practical test in the next couple of weeks or so.

We're just in the process of putting together our paper assessment in the hope of getting through to the next practical tests after April which I think is in July - Eammon is a carpenter - any feedback would be most welcome.

Hi Everyone,

I have emailed VETASSESS to ask them if they can let us know what Power Tools actually have to be taken to the practical, as we've all said there are so many used in the Carpentry trade. Will let you all know what they say when i get a reply.

Hi Guys,

Finally got a reply from VETASSESS about what tools to take, this is what the email said:

Apologies for any confusion caused. Please bring the tools you would normally use on a daily basis. Any speacialist tools including power tools will be supplied for you.

A bit late putting this thread on, but hope it helps.

Good Luck for next week!!!!!!

Hi Hopkinson's,

Paul successfully passed his practical, I'm sure you will be fine on your practical!! I think it took about 2 weeks to get the result back from Vetassess. We have had to go for a 475 visa, the Queensland Government have sponsored Paul as a Carpenter, our application was submitted in July. We don't expect to hear anything until after Xmas, which is when they will probably request our Medicals & Police checks. So we have a long wait ahead of us!!!

Good Luck with your practical on Tuesday!!

Let us know how you get on.

Hi Hopkinson's,

Well, what can I say, other than we have had a bit of a rocky road (well Tam has anyway) and it may be a bit easier for you to read some of the threads we have put on her over the months to get the gist of our story, as believe me, it is quite long:yes: and I would not like to bore people that already know what has went on for us over the past several months, but you are more than welcome to look back and have a read.

But saying that, things are now looking up for us, Tam has now passed as a Carpenter, our application has been lodged online, and we HOPE to hear something in the new year. Tam has a job offer which is really good, and we are heading for Mornington, Melbourne sometime in the not too distant future, hopefully.

Sending all the luck in the world for Tuesday, and keep us posted.

Take care.
