Meeting the rellies

I finally met the Ozzie cousins and their families yesterday after being here five weeks. I was invited to Coolum (lovely place) for their family Christmas get together. I had one or two of them before but definitely not all of them. It was pretty daunting as, no matter if you're related, you are still the stranger at the family get together.

Well there must have been more than twenty of them from 4 months old up to early fifties! And I was the last to arrive as the sat nav once agin decided to take me via the scenic route.

They are a great bunch of people. I had three invitations to spend Christmas and loads of others to visit any time. We had a barbie (of course), Santas gifts to the children and a great chat and laugh. I left for home at 10, driving with the window wide open and singing at the top of my voice to stay awake (barely!).

I'm really pleased I went and met them all. Its makes it a bit easier to cope with being here on my own I can tell you.

Don't you think it's great that there are all these street parties , fireworks, parades and stuff? I'm off to see some new rellies tomorrow i Caloundra area and they want to show me the Christmas tree lights in their area after I may have mentioned how few houses are over decorated here!

Apparently the street party is a bit of a tradition on this street - there are still origional residents who started it all off - and we found out that Ben Cousins and his parents actually lived on this street (we knew he'd been to Leeming Primary), it was so nice seeing all generations getting together and celebrating. Santa came on the back of a Ute and gave out pressies to the little ones and big kids (and everyone loved it), the little ones faces were a picture
