Guest talisman Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Hi just wondering if anyone else has waited weeks to get the police checks back? Seems to be taking ages. Waiting for postman every day. Bet he thinks i am stalking him:biglaugh:Jane
Guest Mrs C Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Hi Jane, We were told six weeks for our police checks and true to form 6 weeks to the day we got them back. The waiting is a killer I know! Hope you don't have to wait too much longer! When did you request them? April
calNgary Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 We also waited full time for ours ,think i was told it would take 42 days and it took 41 to get to us!! it really held things up ,,good luck and i hope you hear soon Cal x
Guest heieup Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 They say 40 days from submitting your request under the data protection act. So work out when your 40 dys is up and my advice would be to forget about it until then otherwise the waiting really will kill you !
KazzE Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Yep ours took the full 40 days too:yes: advice on waiting is to work out a rough time scale and then forget about until that time is up, that way you are stressing out for a shorter time. For instance I worked out that our visa should be granted around the begining of Dec (looking at other timelines) so I did not start checking e mail morning and night until then, this meant that I had two weeks of sleepless nights and stressing, instead of 6!:wideeyed: so work out when 40 days from when you applied is, then you will know that they should be back around that date, if they come back sooner - bonus:yes: Waiting is the curse of people migrating:twitcy:
Guest claire&fred Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Hi Mine took 40 and OH's took 42 as he had a conviction on his. Was about to send them to Agent and realised that OH's was wrong so sent it back with a covering letter and was advised would get it back within couple of days. IT TOOK ANOTHER 40! I was furious with their shoddy service specially as I had rung to chase couple of times and they said "you will get it in a couple of days". Just another example of the dreadful service we get here. Hope you get yours very soon. Claire
Guest Rachel&Stu Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 We had an acknowlegement letter and documents returned, the letter stated that the checks would 'had to be done within 40 days under the Data Protection Act' and that if we had not received them within that timescale, we should contact officer so & so who was dealing with our request. Cheers, Rachel:wubclub:

Guest Trakki Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 we got a letter of receipt and our documents back telling us it could be up to 40 days from the date of receipt (which was 10 days after it was posted) It took 37 days from the date of receipt letter
