Guest Karen K Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 HELP:arghh: I did my IELTS test in October with a 6.5 in Listening, 6.0 in Reading, 6.5 in Writing and 9.0 in Speaking ( i am good at talking) Overall Band Score off 7. I was told by my Emigration Group Agent that i have failed and needed to gain at least 7.0 in each componets............thats fine BUT on the Australian Gov web site it says that, An IELTS test score of at least 6 on each of the 4 components of the test is a pass, so:arghh: therefore i have passed ???? Also my agents told me my test was worth an extra 10 points the web site says 15, should i sack my agent !!!!! I would be very greatful if someone could enlighten me before i rant and rave on the phone on Monday. Thanks Karen K:wacko:
Guest Karen K Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Re: Thread on IELTS Test. I would like to point out that from my recent thread regarding my confusion on the points given re the IELTS Test. I would like to say that this issue has now been explained to me by my Emergration Agents who have been more than helpful and professional. They explained the following. I automaticaly quailfy for 15 points in the English language section for being a UK passport holder. To gain the extra 10 points i needed (for Independent Skilled Visa). I needed to score a minimum of 7 in each of the four components of the IELTS test. Therefore i did not fail my IELTS test as i passed competent English but required proficient English to gain the extra 10 points, this is where i got very confused. My advice therefore to any confused, soon to be aussie's, is to contact your agents. Karen K
