Guest siobhan Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Can anyone put my mind at rest, we have been assigned case officer but they have sent our application to Brisbane character assessment unit, has anyone been through this and it is probably in connection with my husbands police check he had a bit of bother 11 years ago but did no jail time. I hope everything ok, I am so worried, we did get a reference from our local M.P who knows my husband well, is this normal part of process?? Thanks for any help!!
ali Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 I didn't know there was a character assessment unity Siobhan - maybe they're assessing the character of your local MP lol I'd try not to woryy (easier said than done I know), perhaps they just spot check so many and yours was the one chosen. Ali
Guest siobhan Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Hi Ali,thanks 4 ur reply, it might be the M.P! Ha Ha, This is so frustrating, thought we would our visa 4 xmas, but alas!
Life on easy street Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 It should not be a problem it is only serious or persistent offenders that may find it difficult.
Guest Gollywobbler Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Hi Siobhan Pollyana, who is one of the moderators on British Expats, used to work i the police checks unit in Brisbane (at least - it is somewhere in QLD.) She would be the best person to ask about this. Best wishes Gill
Guest siobhan Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Hi Gill, thanks for your reply, could you tell me how I could contact Pollyanna to ask her re the bcau. Thanks again. Siobhan
Guest interested16 Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Hi,just wondering how long BCAU took with your application? Mine been there 1 month now and i believe can take months? I do have some previous convictions and a prison sentence over 12 months..............
Guest siobhan Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Hi, the BCAU had application about 2 months then sent e-mail re:why we should not be refused visa, had to write letter and e-mail back, about how my husband was deeply regretful of his previous actions in extenuating circumstances etc, that he was no threat to australian citizens etc etc..
Guest interested16 Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 The big question! Did you get approved after you sent them the letter regarding why you should get the visa? If so,how long after you sent them the letter. I actually wrote out a long statement when i put my application in to Melbourne which was about 7 months ago. I would be VERY intrested to hear from anybody who has had sucess from Brisbane Character Assesment Unit after serving a prison sentence I have sevded 1 year in prison 10 years ago and been in small drunken troubles since then but last time was about 4 years ago
Guest siobhan Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Yes, got e-mail within 2 days to say they were happy with reply and returned application to Adelaide.. got visa within a week later, hope you have same luck, apparently if you are honest at all times and show deep regret and apologies they are happy with same..good luck!!
Guest monkeybuddhadude Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 What were the outcomes of all of these? anyone still on the site? Because now I am going through it and looking up relevant stories, so would like to hear some outcomes!!!!!!!!!!!!:biglaugh:
