Paul,

What visa subclass did you apply for?

I'm not sure I understand the 5 and 10 points you've mentioned :(

Cheers

Hi Paul

Many people are worse off since 01 September - specifically, the old 136 that is now a 175 are 5 points worse off with English score reduced to 15 from 20, and for those who were relying on the 100K investment also, another 5 points worse off.

You would have other 2 other options to the IELTS so you are not under severe pressure for the English Test:

1 job offer from eligible company for 5 extra MODL points

2 STNI sponsorship from a State or Territory

Good luck with the IELTS test

Regards

Hi

I wouldn't say that the IELTS was easy but you should pass if you do some practice material so you know how to do the test. You also need to to really concentrate.

I have done and found it mostly ok but one part really tricky!

Good Luck

Hi Gary

I have just recieved a letter from the Gov of Western Australia after i failed my IELTS test back in Septemeber with marks off , Listening 6.5 Reading 6.0 Writing 6.5 and speaking 9 grand total of 7. I found this test to be fairly OK but you have to be good at comperhension and spelling, Unfortunaly i am deslexic and although i had told this to my agent, he said i would WALK IT!!!! So with this fail we decided to go for a Skilled Sponsorship 176 Visa.

Anyway i was sent this letter as mentioned above and in the letter the Oz Gov said that the IELTS test score should be at least % in each of the four components for Trade and 6 or above for other occupations. They did say i did not have to do the IELTS so i can only gather imy marks were good enough for a 176 .

Anyway Good luck with your test, dont forget to book soon as they are very busy with us poor english people doing the english test............so you can not help feeling sorry for us poor english people that failed the english test, i have to say i cryed and felt like a failure. I do however wish you lots of luck :smile:Karen K

Hi Paul,

I was in the same boat, had my skills assessment done, and was then asked to do this IELTS.. Having not sat an exam in more that 20 years, blimey it was a shock. I did mine at Surrey University on 1st Dec.

The test is under exam conditions and we had a little woman at the front shouting at various people when they didn't their pencils down !!

My results came yesterday, I got 7.5 (listening), 8.0(reading), 8.0(Writing), 9.0 (Speaking).

The test is not hard, but you need to watch the clock, read the questions carefully. In the listening test I let my mind wonder a bit and lost the thread, hence the 7.5.

You can't really revise for this, it's more down to technique.

Good Luck

Sailen
