Hi Dan

I've noticed it too. I thought it must be to do with the new 175 visa being processed on line? I don't know, though.

I suspect that the probability is that they have set up a separate unit within the ASPC to handle the 175 visas and that only the people in this new unit have been trained to work with 175 visas. Because they have only been going since 1st Sept and the Meds etc for them are fast-tracked, for a start the new process is much more streamlined than with the old 136. Also, the staff handling all the pre 01/09/07 files have got 80,000 of them in hand to try to get through.

However, I will get to the bottom of this and get back to you because it is a very valid question.

Cheers

Hi Gill

You are right, DIAC have set up a seperate unit for the new visa's and therefore they are currently being processed quicker than the 'old' visa's.

It is very frustrating for clients and agents alike. It is hard trying to explain the logic to a client who has been waiting for their acknowledgment ona 136 only to discover that someone who applied after them for a 175 has had their visa granted.

It was before my time, but I understand that previously, when application moved from being offshore (i.e. London) to onshore (OZ) the ones onshore were processed much quicker as they too had a 'new special unit'.

It does seem unfair however, unfortunately it is the case at the moment and there is nothing that can be done to 'push' the 136 visa's through any quicker.

kind regards

Cheryl

Hi Dan,

We're some of the ones who've benifited from the new system.

Our agent advised us to wait until Sept 1st before applying which we did and were obviously one of the first. As Gill has said a new dept. with new staff started working on the new online applications. This means that the last person who applied on Aug 31 is at the bottom of a very big pile whereas the first to apply on sept 1 was at the top of the new pile.

Also, another big reason for the new visas being processed much quicker is that our forms were filled in online which means all of our details are already in the ASPC computer and all your details will have to be put in by hand from your forms this of course takes up lots of time before the CO even starts to check everything!!

Like I said, our agent knew this was going to happen and told us it was better to wait.

We feel a bit quilty when we see how long some of you have been waiting :embarrassed: and hope you wont have to wait much longer.

OMG I didn't notice that ...... but now I am :arghh:

(obviosuly no offence to any of you lucky ones who have received them early:cute:)

BUT OMG, how CAN THIS BE???????

Do they not realise that your whole life in on HOLD!!!!!

:realmad:and breath.

As you can see I applied on 30 Aug and STILL have not even had an acknowledgement:cry:

I am one of the last ones on the old system and sometimes look at the online applications with envy of how quick they are being processed. But if i had my visa now i still have my house to sell and other comittments that i was allways going to fulfil. My original plan was to emigrate late June 08 and even if things slow a little more i should hit that target, Good luck to those who by chance or good planning are on the online post September applications, just dont rub it in to much, there is another plus of the old system you have 12-18 months to weigh up all pros and cons and make a calculated descision where as 3 months visa granted you could end up 12000 miles away and wondering what have you done, which ever route you take as long as your dreams are realised does the rest matter.

Hi Cheryl

Thanks very much for explaining the situation. It does seem unfair, but I've never noticed DIAC worrying about that - especially not lately with the sudden closure of Pathway D, the sudden withdrawal of the $100,000 investment and so forth.....

I'm seeing lay-pople saying that a new version of Pathway D will begin after Christmas but the RMAs all seem to be saying, "Don't hold your breath..."

Has the MIA managed to make any headway with the $100,000 investment, do you know? With that, it seems to me that at the very least there should be no fee payable if a whole new visa application has to be made.

Cheers

We are also one of the late August applicants. Our Visa was lodged 29 Aug and we finally had our receipt on 7 November. We are a 136 MODL skilled ind. I was getting fed up with everyone who applied after us getting everything so quickly and Agent advised what Gill and Cheryl said. After that it made sense and I decided it was not worth getting stressed about it anymore. Agent said that we would originally get Visa Jan/Feb now will be lucky to get it before May 08. It can be very gutting but not much we can do.

And before I get a telling off, I am pleased for all those that applied after 1 September and moving along so quickly. We are all hopefully going to get where we want to be eventually.

Hi Claire&Fred,

I too am going out on a 136MODL skilled visa my application arrived on the 27/8/07 , i phoned aspc last night to see where they are at and they have told they have not even finished looking at 24/08/07 applications yet. So i dont understand how you have had yours receipted yet,. please could you clarify .

I did say to them that some people have had theirs receipted that applied after the 24/8/07 and they told me that is impossible because they can only work by date thats on there computer.

Hi Gill

We are one of the unlucky ones on the sir 495 visa applications.

we had confirmation of visa application being received and then next day were told of pathway d closure.

we feel absolutely gutted after spending so much time and effort getting this far.

our agent says to sit tight and things might change as a lot of pressure is being put on mia but it still feels like the goalposts have been moved

Hi Mark & Sara

Welcome to Poms in Oz and I am so sorry to hear of your recent exprience. It absolutely sucks, doesn't it?

Please see this thread:

http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/27022-quick-question.html

Would any of the possible alternatives that I have described be viablefor you, do you think?

The way I am hearing it from very senior RMAs with very high-level contacts within both the MIA ad DIAC, there is not going to be a Revolutionary New Panacea for the closure of Pathway D any time soon, except for the few who are eligible to proceed via VETASSESS instead.

For that possibility, please see the link below:

Go Matilda - Your Gateway to Australia - News

I think the VETASESS thing might now be up & running for the people in th relevant categories, but please note that I say I think", not "I know"...

Best wishes

Gill

Sorry, don't know. Just got an email from Agent on Friday with attached email from ASPC confirming receipt of our application and that payment had been taken. Checked with the credit card people as the payment was not showing as taken and they said it had and then double checked on Monday and over £900.00 had been taken by them. They said that application was undergoing validity checking and ack. should be within 12 weeks.

Sorry not sure why it was taken before yours.

Hi everyone,

I know how frustrated you all must feel, knowing that the online 175's are being processed faster.

We originally wanted to apply late August because of the changes and couldn't because of the influx of TRA applications. Our TRA didn't come through in time and the online option was then available.

The online sysytem still has glitches and there seems to be no understanding of how and when you get a CO as people who applied after us had one before us....

I don't wish to rub anyones nose in it and I do hope that we all get where we are dreaming of.

Good Luck everyone

ta gill but as a manager, if this happened in my business, i would have to answer some very difficult questions about my planning skills. did they not forsee this influx of applications? when i learned of the changes i applied asap, so as not to scrap all the work i had completed up to that date. surley they knew that would happen to lots of applicants so why not plan better for the increase of applications? don,t mean to be a pain but it does tend to get very frustrating waiting

I was wondering how long it would take for the question to be asked, well done:notworthy:

I think it says a lot for this site that this has not turned horrible or negative against online applicants:yes:

It is not thier fault, it's the bl**dy civil servants, actually it is not thier fault either its the Gov and sad to say but I think the online dept will soon be as irratic as the pre Sept 1st dept

it is not fair

but it is how it is and we have to deal with it

yes we are whinging, I admit I have had quite few whinges, paddies, wobblies, what ever but I always feel so much better after and they are usually justified (in my head any way:skeptical:)

Online applicants, please do not feel guilty or uncomfortable about posting your good news. we will be happy for you, but forgive the pangs of jealousy :wideeyed:that I am sure some of us will be feeling to some degree of other depending on how our own process is going

I LOVE THIS SITE it is keeping me sane (well .................sorta)

.

.But if anyone else gets thier visa before me and if their application went in after mine, I will find out where you live.......................................... no, no, noooooooooooo, I don't want to go with the nice man in the white coat.................................. noooooooooooooooooo..........................................

Hi Gill

Sorry, I have not heard anything more about the $100,000 other than the MIA sending a letter to the new Immigration & Citizenship Minister asking for 'compassion for those applicants who have already lodged their applications'.

I have put a quick note on a new thread regarding Pathway D - there is to be an announcement in the New Year! But we will have to wait and see what it is.

Kind regards

Cheryl

Hi Dan

I'm not defending DIAC for an instant. Personally I am violently allergic to the Civil Service in every corner of the globe. If any one them had to run a business which has to return a profit they would be complete dead meat, the lot of them.

But if you are not a Civil Service managger, you can have no idea of how adept they all are at passing bucks and excuses up the chain of command. Nobody wats to be left holding the baby when the music stops - so, pass the buck up the chain. When it gets to the very top at parliamentary level, paint it white and bury it 6 ft down.

It is very melancholy, in my view.
